Despite the horrible heat today, a dedicate group of volunteers (Cory and Kathy Chew, Ken Crawford, Jim Garcia, Laura Post, and Don Turos) undertook step one of clearing out the Club's warehouse, creating more space, sweeping, etc. We didn't have time (nor energy) to go to phase 2, correcting our inventory of the garden rr equipment. That is a job for another, cooler day. Stay tuned.
I recently finished up the last four of the Lil' Big Haulers freight cars. All were bashed, detailed and weathered with KDs and metal wheels added: two tank cars and two ore cars.
Train time at Brack's Landing, once the west end of the Lodi & Western. More details in the captions.

An addendum to my earlier post, I've finished (mostly) four more cars in the Lil' Big Haulers series. Less drastic bashing was called for this time. KDs, metal wheels and metal sheathing to cover all the holes (factory) in the floor.

What an incredible transformation! Great work Richard!
Here is a member's MTH GS-4 Daylight locomotive running with Accucraft passenger cars and some newly installed seated figures and LED lighting. #TwilightTuesday
In Episode 2 of the Sacramento Valley Garden Railway Society layout tours series, we visit Mike and Carole Epstein's garden railroad in Fair Oaks, California. This is a railroad built for running their long passenger and freight trains while relaxing in the beautiful setting of a large rural backyard. A unique depot structure doubles as train storage, so they can be up and running in minutes! You'll see trains from USA Trains, Aristo-Craft, LGB, Accucraft, and more, with power provided by batteries with AirWire control, and Phoenix sound. Music: https://www.bensound.com/royalty-free-music
Last weekend, SVGRS set up electric modules at Great Train Expo (Cal Expo). I got to run my new (to me) MTH GG1. Fine looking pics for Front End Friday.
Come see the show and be sure to stop by and visit our modular railroad!
We set up yesterday afternoon, and are running Large Scale Trains today and tomorrow!
I bought couple of Egghaulers at NGRC in Portland this summer. They come without couplers or wheels, so I repurposed some spare Aristocraft couplers from my parts bin(s) and installed metal wheels to match the others on my cars. This created a small problem -- the metal wheels are not the same size as whatever Egghauler expected me to use, and I couldn't attach the coupler to the 'hauler without a shim. I 3D printed a shim that sets the height and centers the coupler on the car.
We'll have another documentary episode out soon, but for now here's a short layout tour of another railroad, following a Daylight train around the 500 ft mainline. This layout will eventually be featured in a documentary episode, but it's still under construction with a lot of new features planned.
Come out to the railroad museum for this fun holiday event! We’ll be there with our modular railroad.
