Sunday School plays a vital role in our Serbian Christian Orthodox Community. With that in mind, we feel it's important we consider the re-opening of Sunday School under safe measures. Before we execute on any decisions, we would like to get an understanding of what our parents would prefer. This will help us determine our plan for re-opening and also appropriately gauge how many teachers we need to prep. Back inside the church we go! With recent Sacramento County Guidelines we received this week, we are now allowed to have Liturgy back inside the church. Divine Liturgy will be served in Church at 9:30 am with some restrictions. We are allowed to have 25% capacity or less than 100 people in church. ... We still have to follow the below Sacramento County guidelines! Important Information You are are very welcome to attend. Thank you for your understanding on following the below recommendations in the time of the COVID-19 Pandemic: Masks will still be required. There will be designed spots to stand 6 ft apart. Serbian Food and Culture Festival is cancelled for 2020. Dear Stewards and Friends of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Serbian Orthodox Church, It is with great disappointment that we have to notify you that due to the Coronavirus and the State of California and Sacramento County restrictions, the Serbian Food and Culture Festival for 2020 is cancelled.... The annual festival is such a special and precious time for us since we bring many people together from all cultures, we bring great food and music to our visitors, and we also bring our community together for enjoyment with our friends. Our children represent our community with their folklore pride while our food is showcased by the hardworking volunteers. We also always use this opportunity to teach others about Orthodox Christianity and our history. With God’s will, we hope to celebrate the festival in October of 2021. Although we are not having the festival this year, we are asking you to consider the financial support that is needed to keep our Church running, and that we are ready to pick back up with events and improvement projects when the time comes. The festival brings in many donations that provide financial support to our parish and without it, we are hoping that you can help us secure the future of our success when the regulations allow us to operate in full. Please note there will not be any luncheon or gathering after due to regulations, however, we would love it if you could join us for the Liturgy.
