The foundation for the belonging Marines experience in the ranks is laid in recruit training. It is here that recruits learn to think and act for the good of their platoon while also relying on those to their left and right to overcome any obstacle. These bonds are deepened after recruits earn the title, as Marines rely on them to win the battles our Nation faces.

As we near the end of #HispanicHeritageMonth we wanted to highlight another one of our Marines. Staff Sgt. Benjamin Rodriguez was born in Acapulco, Mexico and brought to the U.S. when he was 3 months old. He grew up in Chicago, Illinois and Southern California. Growing up, his father taught him what it meant to be a provider, protector, and presider. As soon as he had the opportunity at 21 years old, he set forth into the Marines and applied those values. He serves now as a recruiter in Citrus Heights, California where he raises young men and women to realize their full potential. Always remember where you come from and help those that come into your life. Being a Marine, best job I’ll ever have"
