Dancing in Place is a project that Terrain Dance Collective undertook to help us feel connected during shelter in place, to each other, our dancing (which is difficult at home alone) and to you. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fn-egHdZc3s

In less than an hour, we'll be dancing all over town, the country, maybe the world, in or near our doorways, the portals of our shelters, that look out on the world that awaits us- family, friends, nature and all of humanity. Dance for fun, for pleasure, to express your sadness and/or joy, for well being. Got to Terrain a dance and performance collective facebook page to post, comment and to see others' posts.

Tomorrow is May 3, Dancing in Our Doorways Day! Dance in your doorway, your hallway, on your deck, in your yard, or really, wherever you feel like it. Noon PT, so figure out your time zone, or whenever you feel like it! But if we all do it at the same time, it’s almost like we’re together- there’s a power in it somehow. The power of dance movement to heal, to express our feelings, to lift our spirits, to bring us together.

We wanted to let you know that classes are getting going for the new year, Tuesday evenings 7:30-9 and Friday morning 10-11:30. It’s a lot of fun because dancing lifts the spirits, even as we train our minds and bodies for better posture, freer movement, strength and flexibility. All are welcome. If you haven’t been to class for some time and really miss dancing, now is a great time to start. Less and advanced and more advanced dancers alike benefit from the basic principles of efficient movement that allows us to be at ease in our bodies. Join us in the studio as the new year begins and the days grow longer. www.berkeley movingarts.com

Classes are back in swing after a very brief break, and I will be teaching Friday mornings , 10-11:30, for the rest of this month, and into the next the most beautiful time in the studio. Tuesday class will also continue through July and August, taught by Betsy Strome, Avilee Goodwin and me. It’s such a good thing for body and mind, to keep up our practice of dance technique Looking forward to seeing you soon.

We're getting in gear for fall classes-- lovely classes on Friday mornings 10-11:30, and Tuesday evenings 7:30-9. Hawkins technique is a unique and beautiful approach to dance technique from "the inside out", based on principles of body alignment and movement that make the most efficient use of the body's natural structure.
