NAMI Walk-A-Thon April 30th! See you there!

We have been blessed to see SO MANY men and women 'graduate' and become contributing members of our community! I personally know of over 17 from the first of January. How lucky we are to be in the front row of such miracles!

It is January 10th and already we have seen 2 deaths and one relapse - BUT we also had 2 men move on to get their own places and 2 women moving out to their own place and going to school. Which statistic do YOU choose to focus on? Check back at month end for the month statistics...

Ruben and I would love to launch another men's house in Ventura. We have been loading up on extras - just to be ready if God gives us the ok. Now we are in search of a location. if you or anyone you know has a 4 or 5 bedroom house they are willing to rent, please get in touch with Ruben or myself.

In the Women's House, each woman is given a hand painted God Box. The box has a hole at the bottom - for their sorrows to drop through. The boxes are all lovingly painted by women in recovery and donated. Inside each box is this scroll: Let it Go and Let God As children bring their broken toys with tears for us to mend I brought my broken dreams to God because He was my friend. But then, instead of leaving Him in peace to work alone; I hung around and tried to help, with way...s that were my own. At last, I snatched it back and cried, "How can you be so slow?" The only reason the Women's House exists today is because of Tamara Mattingly. I had heard of her and knew of her work in recovery a few years ago. As anyone can see by the numerous comments below she is a powerful force in many lives - including mine. I would go into factual detail about the house - but it is so much more than the beautiful hardwood floors and number of spacious rooms. It's a HOME. Especially to those that have had the privilege of staying there. For those that are scared, sad and alone she brings a healthy serving of 'loves', she treats everyone with respect, honesty and she has more compassion than anyone I have known. Everything you need to grow wings and fly on your own is there - because of Tamara. ~ Thank you

Ruben's Place is a stunning, 8 bedroom restored Victorian home that is always in immaculate condition - thanks, in no small part to our very dedicated house manager, Bobby. Bobby McElroy is also a very active member in the Ventura Chapter of the Sober Living Network since 2012
