Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. said, "everyone can be great because everybody can serve." The MLK Day of Service event is intended to honor Dr. King's life and teachings. Volunteers will engage in service projects at select park locations in Simi Valley and/or Oak Park. Projects will be geared towards beautification, restoration, and park enhancement. Current VC public health guidelines will be followed and event is subject to change.... The American flag is flying at half-staff at Rancho Simi Recreation and Park District’s Activity Center, located at 4201 Guardian Street in Simi Valley, to honor U.S. Capitol Police Officer Brian Sicknick, who was killed in the line of duty.
