FATHER'S DAY BRUNCH June 20, 2021 We had a great turn out for the Father's day Brunch. Our Lodge officers presented a "Tribute to Father's" Ceremony. It was heart warming to see all of the families enjoying themselves, sitting around the table, talking and laughing. HAPPY FATHER'S DAY TO ALL OF THE FATHER'S AND GRANDFATHERS!

In spite of the rain and Covid limitations, Santa and his helpers enjoyed meeting the Head Start families. The kids were excited to receive candy canes from Santa, while food baskets, gift cards and Christmas presents were being loaded into their cars.

Although we had to cancel our Breakfast With Santa, we spent time today making food baskets for our Head Start families. The families will also receive generous gift certificates for perishable items. Elk's members also donated gifts for the Head Start kids, and ALL of their siblings. I hope the families enjoy the food and gifts as much as we did pulling everything together. Great job, Chairperson Mary Pena and Elli Platz!!!!

Because of the Covid fiasco, we were unable to provide BBQ's this past year for the veterans in Lincoln Hall at Yountville Veteran's Home. Sadly, the Veteran's Home is still under "LockDown", and we will not be able to prepare and serve Christmas dinner for the vets. However, we have been authorized to bring cookies, as Christmas treats! We will again start our Annual Cookie Drive for our Yountville Veteran's! We will be collecting cookies starting December 1 through Dece...mber 14. Although activities at the Lodge are suspended, the Lodge will maintain normal office hours. Cookies can be dropped off at the Lodge,,,call the office before you drop off your cookies, the staff sometimes has to be out running errands...To maintain freshness, I will be freezing the cookies, during the 2 week collection period. Although NOT required, it would be helpful if you pack your cookies in Ziploc bags. PLEASE. HELP US BRING SOME CHEER TO OUR VETS! For many of them, this will be their ONLY Christmas present! If you have cookies to drop off, when the office is closed, call (916)771-3659. Thank you in advance for your help! See more

I’m afraid to say I don’t have all of the names of the volunteers but we had an epic cleanup day at the lodge today. Everything inside got cleaned and sanitized and a lot of pruning and trimming got done outside. Thank you to Gary Platz, Judy Greyson, Mike Jones, Jim Johnson and Steve Dale. All of the sprinkler system is repaired and ready for summer. And there is Elli Platz doing what she does best, cleaning, cleaning, cleaning. The kitchen and much of the rest of the lodge hasn’t looked this good in many years. Thank you Lesley Dale for making sure we have the proper nutrition to keep us going.

I received the following information from Cindy McKim. Members of the Lodge were saddened to hear of the passing of Barbara Ferreira on June 3, 2020. Barbara was the Past President of Roseville Emblem Club, and a friend of the Roseville Lodge for many years. Over the years, she volunteered many hours to help Lodge community efforts. In addition to serving as an officer of the Roseville Emblem Club for many years, she also served Emblem in positions at the national and sta...te levels as well. Most recently, she was Treasurer of the State Association, and a Supreme Deputy at the national level. Barbara was a life-long Californian, born and raised in the San Joaquin valley in a close-knit Portuguese community. She was an only child, and her parents predeceased her. She had no children, and unfortunately never found her soulmate. Consequently, the Emblem Club and her friends at the Roseville Lodge were her family. She devoted her life to the Emblem Club, and the charitable and community services it supports. In addition to her Emblem Club family, Barbara is survived by four cousins. She will be missed. Memorial services are pending.

The RV spots all got mowed today. Gary and Elli have been busy inside the lodge painting, sanitizing and cleaning. The lodge is looking good. All we need now is a bunch of members to return. Hopefully that will happen next month. Everyone please stay safe and healthy.

The long awaited repaving and resealing of our parking lot began today. This is stage #1 of the project. The damaged asphalt was removed and replaced today. The sealing and restriping will be done in appropriate 30 days. Thank you to the Board of Directors and especially PER Trustee Mike Dreiling for spearheading this project.
