Finally, after more than two years, we had an opening in our schedule to perform a Dental on Rutherford, our Black Great Dane. We are usually booked every single day for Dentals but, after two years of no openings (Client's pets always come before our own), we finally had one day where it worked out for us to get to one of our dogs. Next on the list will be Lance. Now if I could just convince my wife to do my Dental, however, I could pass on getting my body temperature taken hahaha

So today we were notified that some of our biggest manufactures of pharmaceuticals will be raising their drug prices in January 2021 in amounts we have never seen before. Zoetis is raising their prices up to 8% and Elanco (which now also owns Bayer) is hitting us with a 7% price increase. I can never remember price increases over 4-5% (and they were usually in the 1% to 2% range) since we opened in 1996. Sadly this will translate into increased prices to treat your pet. My wife and I did not raise any of our fees this year unless they were directly impacted by cost increases. We are committed to our clients and to helping their pets live a long healthy life. 2021 will be a challenge as our whole economy struggles to recover. We will do our best to keep any price increases to a minimum.

Just a head's up for those filling their prescriptions at Costco Pharmacy. Lately they have been filling prescriptions for less than the amount that we wrote on the written prescription. They claim that the amount they give you is all they have left. They will then refuse to refill the balance of the prescription when you run out and tell you that you need to get a new written prescription. Please be aware that they are the ONLY pharmacy that I am aware that behaves in this m...anner. Please understand that it can take up to 5 days to write a new Rx. Problems at Costco are not ours to correct. We suggest that if this happens to you to contact the California Pharmacy Board ( https://www.pharmacy.ca.gov/) and file a complaint. We know of at least 10 clients that have had their prescriptions filled for less than the amount we prescribed and then were refused the balance when they went back. See more

Wanted to give a head's up on our next closed dates. We will be CLOSED Weds Nov 25th thru Nov 29th and reopen on Mon Nov 30th. Then in December we will be closed for our annual "vacation" from Weds Dec 23rd and reopen on Mon Jan 4th.

Effective Sept 28th, Hill's (Science Diet) is raising the retail cost of their foods. If you need food before the price increase, please call or email us ([email protected]) so we can have it ready for you.

We have updated our old 4 foot fluorescent lights to new 2x2 LED panels that are networked together. Just the waiting room alone will save us the equivalent of about 6 100w bulbs. And we finally have the surgery/exam lights going in as well. So far only the Cat room has been finished. That's due, in part, to Charlie, who decided he had had enough and it was time to play and he was not letting me go back up that ladder.

Congratulations to our Daughter, Dr Breanna Sheahan DVM MS DACVIM (LAIM) PhD. She now officially has more initials after her name than her Mom, Dr Heidi Sheahan BS DVM DABVP (Canine and Feline).

It's a Monday morning and the dogs are still recovering from the 4th of July

We are one of the few Vet Hospitals allowing clients in ONE AT A TIME but you still see Dr Sheahan in person. The other Hospitals are still having you wait in the parking lot, they then come get your pet and the Vet examines your pet while you wait in the car. So please be aware that there might be a wait depending on how many people are ahead of you. We are doing extra cleaning between clients and we are not having clients waiting in the waiting room but instead going straight into an exam room. Call us from your car and let us know you are here, we will call you when it is your turn. IF THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE TO YOU, PLEASE LET US KNOW SO THAT WE MAY REFER YOU TO ANOTHER HOSPITAL.

If you have called recently you will notice that occasionally we are not able to answer the phone and it rolls to our Voice Message. Sometimes it is because we are handling an emergency, etc. And we are receiving hundreds of calls daily (yesterday's total was well over 500 calls) to the point were it just isn't possible for us to answer every call. Thank you

I would like to remind our clients that we do charge for missed appointments and short notice cancellations. This is especially true when we are booked weeks in advance and we have multiple clients with their pets who are desperate to be seen, yet can't get in because we are booked. When you don't show, not only is it discourteous to Dr Sheahan as she sets one on one appointments (no double or triple bookings here like most Vet Hospitals), but it is discourteous to the next c...lient who is trying to get in and whose pet is just as important to them as the next person. In the past we have occasionally waived the fee but when we are 100% booked, coming in early and staying late, and you don't show up for you appointment we will not waive the fee. That fee is $79 for an appointment and $200 for a surgery and/or dental appointment. Thank you to all of those who always show up on time (99% of our clients). See more
