This week, the Rotary Club of El Dorado Hills presented CHP Officer Friend with a Distinguished Service Citation and named Officer Friend as their Officer of the Year. Commander Hatfield was pleased to present this honor to Officer Friend. Officer Friend has consistently distinguished himself as an outstanding officer for the California Highway Patrol. Officer Friend has spent his life in the service of others. Prior to joining the CHP, Officer Friend served his country i...n the U.S. Marine Corps, serving with distinction until his honorable discharge in 2003. Through his 14 years of service to the CHP, his dedication to tirelessly working road patrol, diligently striving to reduce the mileage death rate and provide the highest level of safety and service to the community has not gone unnoticed. His selfless service and compassion are attested to by numerous commendations by his supervisors and the public. Congratulations Officer Friend!!!

After nearly 15 years of selfless service to the people of California and El Dorado County, Officer Frizzell is hangin’ up his boots to pursue a new career outside of law enforcement. Dave was born and raised in Placerville and loyal to El Dorado County through and through. Before transferring to the Placerville Area in 2009, Dave worked for CHP - Santa Cruz and... distinguished himself as an outstanding motorcycle officer, field training officer and much more. 30 years ago today El Dorado County Sheriff's Deputy Michael L. Cole lost his life in the line of duty. Deputy Cole was killed in a traffic accident while resp...onding to a call for service in Diamond Springs on February 26, 1991. He was survived by his wife and three young sons. Stolen Motorcycle Recovered-After 16 Years In January of 2005, Keith and James, business partners in Roseville, CA, reported this Honda XR-250R stolen. Today, they got it back after it was brought to our office for a VIN verification. After 16 years it is back in the rightful hands. The VIN verification process is just one tool the CHP uses to thwart vehicle theft and return stolen vehicles to their owners. Throughout the State, the CHP utilizes county/regional vehicle theft... task forces utilizing advanced technology tools including bait vehicles. But, we cannot do it alone. Early this morning, Officer Whitley was enforcing the speed limit on US-50 in El Dorado Hills using LIDAR. Unfortunately, a motorist decided that driving over 130 miles per hour was a risk they were willing to take. Unsafe speed continues to be a leading cause of Death, injury, and property damage in California. If caught, you will receive a citation and are possibly looking at going to jail, having your vehicle towed, and having your driving privileges suspended. With heavy hearts we announce the End of Watch for Antelope Valley CHP Officer Andy Ornelas, ID 21685. On November 23, 2020, at approximately 7:05 pm, Officer ...Ornelas was riding his departmental motorcycle when a motorist pulled from the right shoulder to make a U-turn directly in his path. Officer Ornelas’ motorcycle struck the other vehicle, causing him to be thrown from his motorcycle. Officer Ornelas was transported to Antelope Valley Hospital in Lancaster. Despite significant life-saving efforts by medical personnel, on Wednesday, December 2, 2020, Officer Ornelas succumbed to his injuries. Officer Ornelas is survived by his wife, mother, father, brother, and sister. Officer Ornelas was a member of the Department for four years.

After weeks of assisting El Dorado County Animal Services, they were finally able to trap these dogs. Animal Services is looking for assistance in locating their owners.
