Very few burdens are heavy if everyone lifts. -Sy Wise One of my favorite quotes. I was in a funk and asked a group ( @phlocklive ) of women from around the world to send me some self portraits acting like they were holding something above their heads. Images from all over came in to create this. In a way it was like spending time with each of them that I had hoped to meet in person this past March teaching in the UK at PHLOCK Live. Images of them bare foot in snow () a...nd dancing in front of their garages were more than I expected, it made me start feeling creative again. So a huge virtual group hug to all these amazing artists and women who got to dance together while lifting each other up at this crazy time via PS. You are all amazing and seeing you next March will be that much more packed with emotion and laughter. Here they are in no particular order: Bree: @breefriesenphoto Diana: @water_in_my_wellies Joan: @joanmariephotography Marie: @omahonyphotography Katja: @soulpixel_by_katja Natalie: @nataliecurryphotography Stephanie: @stephanielovaephotography Bex: @bex.photo Anna: @anna_m_hurley Aimee: @amys_enchantedbrushstrokes See more
One of my favorite quotes They tried to bury us, they did not know we were seeds. So much negativity being tossed around and the hardships we are all facing is very real but I can’t help but think of this as a great pause/reset. Maybe my sanity need for it to be so. 20/20 always reminds me of perfect vision and in this painful life-altering pause we are globally forced to put our life in perspective.... ALL OF US... across the GLOBE are leveled to a place we all... hoped and strived for by working harder and attempting to be greater than we were yesterday and in an instant we were all made equal as we should be. We are all affected and I can’t help but think of the profoundness of it all. Famous actors, athletes... all home and paused just like the rest of us. Some doing tutorials and concerts from home...just like the rest of us. Reminders of what’s important to us as a whole is at the forefront... our health/workers, first responders, mental heath and well-being, access to good education for our children, living by example, food for all and heck even globally washing are damn hands! We are giving the pause to spend any time we can with those we love without watching the clock and cramming schedules. Our communities are checking in on the poor, homeless and elderly Art and music are finding their place in the scales of what is important People are out on walks letting the sun hit their faces Our oceans and lands are getting a break too. A new level of what is truly important will be birthed from this time so hold on. They always say, hindsight is 20/20. We will bloom again soon. See more

If you’re headed to PHLOCK LIVE and I don’t see you in my Bespoke session, then I truly hope to get a chance to connect during the closing panel. Have to pinch myself to be sitting alongside some amazing and talented artists. Ask me all the things!! ~~~ ~~~ here I come!!!
{ Opportunity } "When you grow tired learn to rest, not quit." That's been words I've been leaning on for a while as I pulled back from creating for myself during the busy season of client work. Often I worried I was losing myself and stressed about why I wasn't creating for myself as often as I had been. Naturally, after much overthinking and worry I came to realize it was okay to rest. It is okay to seek other things that bring me joy. 2020 is all about bringing inspiration... and creativity into the photography community through education. I've spent the last 5 years wondering if creativity can be taught. I believe that it's like anything else... a change in perspective can allow you to see things in new ways and that is what creativity is all about and to me, where inspiration hides. This is my favorite time of year where I re-evaluate my dreams. It's funny how they differ each year.. the things I thought I wanted morphed the closer I got to them. I'm forever seeking that moving target of losses and growth. Today I'm taking the time to fill up my dream board for the new year and feeling grateful for all the opportunities coming up here in 2020.. opportunities that once sat on a board such as this. <3 @durandthomas
