You down with Elaeagnus? We are growing 10 varieties of "Autumn Olive" elaeagnus varieties, native to Japan, which grow very well throughout most of the continental U.S (zones 3-9). These are fast growing, nitrogen fixing, hardy shrubs that produce many hundreds of antioxidant rich, sweet, tart berries. They grow so easily, they can get invasive in riparian zones, so be careful. But in your garden, that means an easy nutritious/medicinal crop that builds soil, fixes nitrogen, and attracts pollinators! This is a great support species for your forest garden.
