Thank you Syd, for always being the hardest worker in the room. Syd is always willing to work on new skills to battle the effects of Parkinson's. Here, we see him working on rotation and voice projection. By saying the word "hook" aloud we are stimulating and exercising the diaphragm to help maintain his voice and protect against choking. Also, by placing the heavy bags on opposite sides we are increasing the amount of rotation we get from hooks. These are just a couple of wa...ys we make things like speaking aloud and turning easier for Syd. "There are several ways PD may affect speech: The voice may get softer, breathy, or hoarse, causing others difficulty hearing what is said. Speech may be slurred. Speech may be mumbled or expressed rapidly. The tone of the voice may become monotone, lacking the normal ups and downs. The person may have difficulty finding the right words, causing speech to be slower. The person may have difficulty participating in fast-paced conversations." -via Parkinsons.net #moveup #empowerment #uplifting #fightfamily #goodvibes #fresno #fightparkinsons #rocksteady #nevergiveup #inthiscornerhope #fitspiration #fitnessforlife #fitnessisfun #fitnessforall #fitnesslifestyle #healthylifestyle #healthyliving #healthandwellness #healthyandhappy #healthandfitness
