This November Rocklin Police Officers are officially participating in NO-SHAVE NOVEMBER. This is to help the fight against cancer and bring awareness to men’s health. If you see us looking a little more scruffy than usual, then know it is not just due to the colder weather . You can help the cause by clicking the below link and making a donation. Maybe even join in? The money you save on haircuts or razors would be a nice start! ... https://no-shave.org

The Greater Sacramento region, which includes Rocklin and Placer County, will be under a regional stay at home order effective at 11:59 p.m. tonight, Thursday... Dec. 10, to slow the spread of COVID-19 and reduce strain on the local health care system. City of Rocklin offices are deemed essential and will remain open during normal business hours but we encourage the public to conduct as much business as possible online and to make appointments, if possible, when in-person business is required. The state order will remain in effect for at least three weeks and be lifted when our region’s projected ICU capacity meets or exceeds 15%. To learn more about restrictions under the latest order, please visit https://covid19.ca.gov/stay-home-except-for-essential-nee/

Catalytic converter theft continues to be a problem in #Rocklin and in the region. Toyota Prius vehicles are still targeted most often but we’ve also seen an uptick in thefts from Honda Accord vehicles. Heavy Ford trucks and commercial vans are also at risk. In the past two months, #RocklinPD has taken approximately 30 reports of theft of catalytic converters. The majority of thefts have been in residential neighborhoods along the Sunset Blvd corridor, north of Park Driv...e to the Lincoln border. Vehicles have been targeted during the overnight hours most often but thefts can also occur during the day. How to protect yourself from catalytic converter theft: * Get a fitted aftermarket cat lock or security plate * Have your converter etched with an identifying number to help identification if it is stolen * Park strategically - park off-street and in well-lit areas If you do become a victim, please call the non-emergency dispatch phone number at (916) 625-5400 to file a report. We are no longer providing etching events, but the following businesses have partnered with the Rocklin Police Department to provide catalytic converter etching. If a thief is under your car removing the catalytic converter, the etching might not stop them, but the etching will certainly make it more difficult to sell or recycle. The etching also allows us to connect the catalytic converter to the original owner which in turns helps us with helps us with the criminal process. https://www.etchrocklin.com/ Stop by any of the locations listed below for your next service and have your catalytic converter etched for FREE. Here are some tips from Placer County Public Health to help you have a safe and fun Halloween. https://www.placer.ca.gov/6886/Halloween-during-COVID-19

On September 26th, while on patrol, Officer Black observed a pick up truck driving erratically in the area of Sierra College and the I80 fwy. As officer Black attempted to conduct a traffic enforcement stop, the truck got onto the I80 fwy at a high rate of speed, refusing to yield to his lights and siren. In consideration for the public’s safety at the time, Officer Black discontinued his pursuit of the truck and broadcasted a good description of the vehicle to surrounding ag...encies. A short time after, Placer County Deputies located the truck and also attempted to initiate a traffic enforcement stop of their own. The driver again failed to yield and a second pursuit ensued. Ultimately, the driver was located, determined to be driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage, and arrested. In appreciation for officer Black’s resiliency and efforts in potentially saving someone’s life and/or a families lives, @maddcalifornia stopped by the department to honor him with a MADD challenge coin! Congratulations, Officer Black, and thank you to our surrounding agencies for the awesome teamwork! See more

While on patrol tonight, one of our officers was flagged down for some police stickers by our new friend, Jacob. Unfortunately, our officer did not have any more stickers. Instead, he gave Jacob a tour of the police car. Jacob is aspiring to be a police officer when he grows up. Jacob, we hope to see you in a future JPA!! (Junior Police Academy) #rocklin #rocklinpd
