Sunday we started a two-part mini series called Victorious Marriage." Pastor Brent Van Elswyk gave us five key points for a victorious marriage. 1.) Submitting to the Savior over summiting to self. 2.) Covenant over contract. 3.) We over me. 4.)Commendation over condemnation. 5.) Gratitude over grating.

"My name is Timothy Peasha (Timmy)(the one in blue) I am a volunteer leader for 6:33 and high school ministry D-Group leader. I serve in our College Ministry, because I love planning and coordinating our events and I love helping to create a culture of sincerity in faith that I believe every young adult needs in their lives. I serve in the high school ministry because I love being able to teach, listen to, and guide my kids in their lives and in the scripture. A lot of my high school time was rough searching for my identity, and I want to be there for the kids I love to help point them to an identity in Christ"

: "A better foundational meaning of El Shaddai may be the overpowerer, which emphasizes God’s power to achieve all His purposes (Ex. 15:6; Matt. 19:26). Qualifying His power in this way is important, as the Bible never suggests God can do everything and anything. He cannot do anything that would violate who He is; for example, He cannot tempt anyone with evil (James 1:13). Nevertheless, the Lord’s strength is absolutely perfect and cannot be increased... or diminished (vv. 1617). Ultimately, it is impossible for anyone or anything to keep Him from accomplishing His sovereign decrees (Ps. 115:3). The book of Job uses the name El Shaddai more than any book in the biblical canon. This makes sense, for God gives Job a particularly clear and awe-inspiring description and display of His power (Job 3842). Job spends most of the book questioning God’s purposes, but the Lord’s display of His wisdom and power finally silences him." Then Job answered the Lord: ‘I am unworthyhow can I reply to you? I put my hand over my mouth. I spoke once, but I have no answer twice, but I will say no more’ (Job 40:35)." -R.C. Sproul, "The Meaning of 'El Shaddai'"

God didn’t say go and make disciples, except during a pandemic. He didn’t say don’t love the neighbors during a national unrest.Again, we need to take precautions. But precautions don’t mean don’t go! This is the time for the Church to be the body of Christ, to be the hands and feet of Jesus.

Dave and his wife Suzanne Washburn draw young people to Christ through the influence of athletes and coaches across Kern County. A former collegiate football player himself, Dave leads Bible studies for local coaches and oversees more than twenty small groups of students both on and around local campuses. Through Hume Lake Christian Camp he coordinates seven camps each year for students on football, soccer, volleyball and basketball teams. Over 30,000 Bibles have been distributed to local campuses in Dave’s nine year ministry and hundreds of coaches, athletes and other young people have come to a saving knowledge of Christ.

This past Sunday pastor Matt preached on The Curse and the Promise from Genesis 3:14-24. One of Pastor Matt's main points was that the cause of the fall was sin, and how now marriage is hard, childbirth is painful, and work is difficult. Work is not a result of the fall, but it was God’s perfect plan in creation. God put Adam in the garden to work the land. Our rebellion broke our relationship with God and our relationship to work itself. What was fruitful labor is now toil and sweat. However, we image God by producing excellent work whether that be designing buildings, singing music, repairing roads or teaching the Bible. God created work to worship our Creator!

What I love about serving on worship ministry: I was slow and timid coming into being a part of worship ministry as a student, but being involved for a few years now has enriched my life and walk with God in unique ways. One primary way is the community and relationships that have grown out of playing alongside musicians who have a common goal: to ascribe worship and glory to the One who truly deserves it. I’ve played across the board from Junior High Ministry to the Main Ser...vice and I’ve loved the opportunity to watch various demographics engage in meaningful worship through song. I love being able to serve our Godusing the musical ability and love for music and that he gave mein this way. For as long as I have the physical ability, I plan on continuing to do so for a long time! It’s one of the things that helps me to forget myself and the things of this world in favor of beholding our King in all of his glory. -Sarah-
