Some yoga pro tips from @clairehartleyyoga For your best ever forward fold Does your Half- Forward Fold need a boost? Half forward fold or Ardha Uttanasana is one of the poses that can get blow past while performing a sun-salute and it deserves more LOVE. ... It preps us for a lot that may be upcoming in your practice: Forward Folds Straight legged standing poses Back-Bends Take a look at what to focus on and take an extra bit of time next time you practice a sun salute. 1. Straighten your legs. Seems obvious but it takes some work. Connect with your quadriceps muscles and pull the tight to the bone as you press down through your whole foot 2. Anterior tilt your pelvis. Lift your sit bones and sacrum up and over so the fold comes from your hips and not your spine. AND move your hips forward so they don’t jut out past your heels. This will prevent over-stretching your hamstrings at your sit bones. 3. Place a baby cobra in your upper back while you bring your side ribs back. And extend your spine forward See more

Sutra 2.11 - in the Active State, they can be destroyed by meditation. In short, the second book in the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali lays out the practice of yoga itself. It sets the proper foundations needed for a strong practice Foundations to build upon gradually, until that level of Samadhi is easily attainable by the student. He calls this practice Kriya Yoga, and it consists of tapas (heat/fire), svadhyaya (study) and Isvara Pranidhana (surrender to the divine). By pra...cticing Kriya Yoga and working to remove the 5 obstacles ((avidya, asmita, raga, dvesa, abhinivesah)), Samadhi is easier to attain. The 5 Kleshas are the cause of our duhkha, our suffering. But how do we exactly go about this? How do we remove these obstacles?(Especially when our ego takes over at any opportunity of erasure.) Meditation on our surfacing thoughts. Patanjali explains, by meditation you can understand the thought forms and clean them up. Then when you have gotten a glimpse of where and how they are, you can slowly trace them to their root and finally cut it out. When you want to uproot a tree, you cut the branches first and then dig to the very root. You clean the ego superficially before you can break it. You see these thoughts and understand them to gain control over them and as you get into the subtle layers you can eventually decide whether or not they need to continue manifesting. You see their source: the ego. This is why yoga is a lifelong practice. This is why we can set it down and pick it up again. This is why we must be patient with the gradual and steadiness of its nature. It’s the beauty of the process. Deep, long-lasting change doesn’t happen overnight. Deep-rooted patterns and tendencies don’t become so overnight either. Use time to your advantage. The small things you are doing, time and time over, are doing the work that needs to be done.
