Hero Home---SGT Tyler Shelton, 22, a Granite Hills High School graduate, was identified as one of two soldiers killed in a U.S. Army helicopter crash on San Cle...mente Island. He served as Black Hawk helicopter repairers assigned to the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment, a unit that participated in the operation that led to the death of Osama bin Laden. The loss of Staff Sgt. Marketta and Sgt. Shelton has left a scar in this Regiment that will never completely heal, said Col. Andrew R. Graham, commander of the regiment, in a statement. Their level of dedication to the 160th SOAR (A) and their exemplary service in the Army is the embodiment of what it means to be a Night Stalker and a Soldier. Shelton graduated from Granite Hills in Apple Valley in 2016. He played football at the school and was one of the team's top defenders. Shelton enlisted in 2016 and was deployed to Afghanistan, the Army said. He earned numerous awards and decorations. He will posthumously receive the Meritorious Service Medal. The medal is awarded to members of the armed forces who distinguished themselves by outstanding non-combat meritorious achievement or service to the United States. #AHeroRememberedNeverDies #HonoringOurFallen #Saytheirnames
