COGNITIVE ABILITIES: Regardless of age, we all desire our cognitive ability to steadily increase over the course of our lives and not decline after reaching its peak. The ideal we seek is a healthy mind, body, and spirit. Many people believe that when we have all three, we have the potential for optimal health, fitness, and happiness, which is why monitoring cognitive function is, or should be, a key component of any plan of care. Assessing and monitoring cognitive function is just one of the things we do at Restoration Healthcare and to help us, we use Cambridge Brain Sciences' brain health assessment service. Discovery why by reading our latest blog post.

BRAIN HEALTH: Many ancient texts suggest that the eyes are windows to the soul, and in this sense, the term represent the focus of your life and what you are seeking. However, the medical community is discovering that our eyes might also be windows to the brain. Increasingly, doctors including those here at Restoration Healthcare are examining vision, along with the retina and the optic nerve, in order to diagnose brain and central nervous system (CNS) disorders. These include Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease, multiple sclerosis (MS), autism, and acute brain trauma (such as concussions). Discover how and why we choose to use RightEye's Brain Health EyeQ Diagnostic to evaluate brain health and function by reading the latest post on our blog.

As practitioners of functional medicine and integrative healthcare, we look at objective measures to evaluate the effectiveness of the treatments we recommend. Conventional measures of weight, temperature, and blood pressure are helpful, as are lab tests to examine blood counts, glucose and cholesterol levels, nutrient levels, and so on. In addition to these and other office and lab tests, we routinely conduct a body composition analysis using the InBody 770 a premium, medical/research grade body composition and body water analyzer that can fully analyze body composition in just one to two minutes. Before your next appointment with a doctor, read our post about the role body composition analysis and body water composition analysis both play in your health and wellbeing.

HAVE YOU EVER... had a Balance Tracking System (BTrackS) test to check the health of your nervous system? Most of our patients have. This noninvasive approach offers a more sophisticated tool for testing the health and function of the nervous system than say, tapping on your knee or having light directed into your eyes. If you're curious to know more about how BTrackS enables your physician to evaluate how effectively your neurological communications network is carrying signals, read the latest post on our blog using the link below.

ANS TESTING? If you drive a car manufactured in the 1980s or more recently, it has a device called an electronic control unit (ECU) that functions as the car’s brain. Sensors on the engine and along the exhaust system send data back to the ECU, which interprets the info in order to make the necessary adjustments that keep the engine running as efficiently as possible. We mention this because your brain is your body’s ECU. Your brain controls and monitors everything going on i...n your body to ensure that all systems are functioning properly and working well as a whole. And that's where autonomic nervous system (ANS) testing comes into play. If you’re about to visit a doctor for an ANS test, our latest blog post is for you. ANS testing is one of the many diagnostics we perform at Restoration Healthcare to create and monitor our patients plans of care. COVID-19 & LYME DISEASE: Understandably, many of our patients with Lyme disease are concerned that having the disease might increase their risk of being infected by the coronavirus or experiencing severe symptoms of COVID-19 (the disease the virus causes). After all, many co-existing health conditions have proven to increase the severity of COVID-19 symptoms, including being in an immunocompromised state, and people with Lyme disease certainly fit in that category. That's why we put together our latest blog post Does Lyme Disease Increase the Risk for Severe COVID-19? Find out by clicking on the link below, and then please share our write-up with anyone you know who is living with acute or chronic Lyme disease. Thanks!

We hear a lot these days about the need to socially isolate and/or physically distance ourselves from those who are not part of our immediate household. Here at Restoration Healthcare, we believe changes in chemistry due to social isolation make the body more susceptible to infection while creating dangerous inflammatory patterns associated with certain diseases and conditions. We recently wrote about this using an entry on our blog. Please click on the link below for all the details, and then share this post with anyone you feel could benefit from the info. Thanks!

At Restoration Healthcare, we try our best to make healthcare affordable for you and your family. To reduce your medical expenses, we suggest using a health savings account (HSA) and/or flexible spending account (FSA) to cover out-of-pocket expenses like those not covered by insurance. If you're confused about HSAs and FSAs why they matter, it's more than understandable. Learn everything you need to know by reading the latest post on our blog, and then let us know if we can answer any questions.

Patients often ask us if they could be allergic to the cleaning products they use in their home. Fact is, many people are sensitive to all sorts of chemicals in their home, including natural and synthetic substances in carpeting, air fresheners, paints, cleaning products, and other sources. And that leads us to our latest blog post, which covers Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS) and Multiple Chemical Sensitivity (MCS), and their respective connection to common housed cleaners.
