Redding Shotokan Karate 27.06.2021

Zoom Monday Night Practice #55 6/7/21 We spent the whole 1.5 hours on Tekki Shodan tonight. Starting at 50% speed, increasing it to normal speed. There are so many things to work on this one of the best and key katas for Shotokan (Notes on Training p39). It was great to have a guest participant Shodan from other state with us.

Zoom Monday Night Practice #54 5/24/21 We worked on kata, Heian 1-5 and Jion. For each kata, we made 2 slow kata focusing on no shoulder power/tension as well as breathing and eyes, then 2 more times at full speed. Great to have a shodan from Idaho with us.

Zoom Monday Night Practice #33 12/28/2020 The last Monday night practice for 2020. We did Sensei's 4 beat drills for the first 40 min, focusing on eyes (look first) tonight besides the usual hip movement. Then worked on this month's senior kata Jion for 40 min. It is always so great to practice together!

SKA members! Join us for a "traditional" New Year's Eve Tekki kata practice. We will be doing 100 Tekki kata: 40 Tekki Shodan, 30 Tekki Nidan, and 30 Tekki Sandan. Practice is open to all SKA members (you should already know the kata; there will be very little, if any, instruction). We will start at the usual 7PM Pacific on New Year's Eve, and expect it to take the full 90 minutes. You are welcome to join us for any part or all of the practice. Bow in if you have a few moments, and duck out when you have to. Connection information is on the SKA Pandemic Practices web page for Thursday evenings. (Note: Jitsi Meet limits meetings to 50 participants.)
