Our next Environmental Day is this Saturday, January 16th from 9 am-1 pm. Featuring on-site paper shredding , electronic waste drop-off , and a compost giveaway - all free for any San Benito County Resident. Please Note: Due to COVID-19 this event will be entirely self-serve. No check-in required.... Please BYO shovels, containers, and work gloves. The Goodwill of Silicon Valley store and donation center in Hollister is accepting donations once again! Great news! Goodwill of Silicon Valley in Hollister is open for business once again! Thrifting gives furniture, clothing, kitchen items, toys, and lots of other great household items a second life! Check out their new store and remember to wear a reusable mask!

Yesterday marked the 100-year anniversary of the incorporation of Sunset Scavenger Company, a waste collection company founded by Genoese Italian immigrants. In the early days, collection operations included a horse and a hand cart like the one pictured here. It is this history that laid the foundation for the company that became known as Norcal Waste Systems, and eventually, Recology. Recology employee owners throughout the years have included talented and dedicated wome...n and men who built this company and continue to work together to keep it going strong. Though we were not able to commemorate this historic milestone as we had originally planned, it serves as an important reminder that we are all in this together, and we will continue to work together to serve our communities like Recology employees have for the past century. Here's to 100 more!
