The RC Legacy program offers that opportunity. The first was a woman we cared for had two small children and was dying of lymphoma. She asked the hospice staff to buy birthday presents for her two small children thinking of their age each year and what they might like. She wrote down gift ideas specific to their age and a birthday card depicting their ages. She carefully wrote in each card. ... Each gift was to be given on their birthdays. She also wrote letters to them for wedding days, and births of first children. It became a project for our hospice for months; every clinician in charge of finding a particular gift and card. They were then lovingly wrapped by the patient. She died peacefully about a month after the last gift was wrapped and tucked away. I have never forgotten her and the beautiful legacy she left her children. Our nation's kiddos have been through it this year. From home school to missing their friends to riots and mom and dad home all the time and stressed more than normal. Going through the process of leaving this world is difficult, exhausting and grief filled, even under the best of circumstances. My RN is wonderful and caring and very detail oriented! They have nurses available 24/7 and theyre all well trained and So very kind! My CNA who helps me is so sweet and calm and raises my spirits and my social worker eases the hard road of paperwork and medical equipment,... so its not a worry to me! Chaplain Tom is there for your religious concerns and checks on you regularly. Even the Dr. in charge is hard working, diligent and caring! With video visits available.
