V-GATE Nose Cone converts H-Shift to a straight up and back pattern. Ranacho’s Fast Fab Verigate is a nose cone V-Gate shifting mechanism which converts the traditional H shift pattern to a straight up and back layout. Not really the hot ticket for street cars as down shifting requires a couple of extra movements, but the straight up gear transition is fast, positive and great for cutting ET times at the track. Type 2 Nose Cone with hockey stick Rancho's precision cast aluminum Type 2 nose cones are a direct bolt-on replacement for your damaged or worn part. Rancho is now offering Vanagon Syncro owners these brand new Locker sleeves and pins to replace worn or corroded OEM components. They are a direct replacement for stock. Pins are precision machined from steel and the sleeve is CNC machined from billet aluminum for a perfect fit to the pin. You can purchase both for just $99.95 or individually for $49.95.

HEAVY DUTY GUSSETED HOCKEY STICK Repeated hard shifts or just years of normal wear are common causes for damaged and worn transaxle hockey sticks. Up until now changing the stick was just a case of replacing it with another somewhat fragile stock unit which are prone to the same problems as the original. Rancho is now manufacturing their own custom designed Heavy Duty Hockey Stick for use in all 1961-1979 Type 1 transaxles. The beefed up sticks are forged and incorporate a pair of strength gussets in areas susceptible to damage. No one does more split case rejuvenation than Rancho and you won't find better quality workmanship or customer service anywhere. Split Case gearboxes found in VWs to 1960 are a specialty at Rancho. When they first show up at the shop each of these unique transmissions is stripped and the case is bead blasted, inspected for damage or wear and refurbished as needed. Using only the highest quality new bearings, seals and gaskets the transmission is then finished to the customer’s requirements and reassembled using factory style, one-piece axle boots. After assembly each transmission is thoroughly tested and shipped with a full 12 month, unlimited mileage warrantee.

Our exclusive transaxle cooler provides for a significant decrease in transaxle operating temperatures over a wide variety of conditions with subsequent benefits in performance, endurance, reliability and life span. No matter if there is obviously an issue or not whenever you have your transaxle out, for any reason, make sure you check condition of the starter and cross shaft bushings. If they’re condition is questionable at all, replace them. Only takes a few minutes to remove and install a new bushing which costs less than a couple quarts of oil.
