Rancho Santa Fe Historical Society 11.01.2021

What are your 2021 resolutions? Ours is to share more RSF history! Today we're sharing images of Juan María Osuna's residence, Osuna 2. Osuna was a military man and San Diego mayor who in 1845 received the full title to Rancho San Dieguito, now known as Rancho Santa Fe. Osuna and his wife Juliana lived in Osuna 2, while their son Leandro lived in Osuna 1. To read more about Juan María Osuna and the adobe residence, check out "A Brief History" on our website at https://www.ra...nchosantafehistoricalsociety.org//hist/brief. Tune in next week for images of Osuna 1! #rsfhs #rsfhsarchives #digitalarchives #tbt #archivesathome

Recognize this view? Enjoy these archival images of Paseo Delicias and take your own personal walking tour of one of RSF's original landscaped boulevards. While you're at it, consider (safely) supporting some of RSF's great local businesses! #rsfhs #rsfhsarchives #digitalarchives #tbt #archivesathome

Take a break from your Zoom calls and enjoy this depiction of peaceful, sprawling farmland. These photos were taken in the early 1920s, right before construction of the first RSF buildings. #rsfhs #rsfhsarchives #digitalarchives #tbt #Archivesathome

We miss our visitors and community members! We may be closed, but we’re still thinking of you all. Explore these digital images of La Flecha House and plan for your future RSFHS visit. La Flecha House, built in 1923, was designed by resident architect Lilian Rice. On July 4, 1989, it was recognized as RSF's Local Landmark No. 1. For more information, check out the history of La Flecha (https://www.ranchosantafehistoricalsociety.org//la-flecha-) on our website. #rsfhs #rsfhs...archives #digitalarchives #tbt #archivesathome " See more

Today we're exploring photos, newspaper clippings, and brochures of The Inn at Rancho Santa Fe, A Tribute Portfolio Resort & Spa. The Inn, originally called Hotel La Morada and later Hacienda Hotel, was designed by architect Lilian Rice in the Spanish Revival-style as a guesthouse for prospective RSF landowners. In 1940, the beautiful space became the privately-owned luxury hotel known as the Inn at RSF. #rsfhs #rsfhsarchives #TheInnatRSF #digitalarchives #tbt #Archivesathome

Happy Thursday! For the next few months, we’d like to share materials from the RSFHS Archives to show you some of our favorite collections and what we’ve been working on. We plan to digitize and publicly release the Archives so that everyone at home can enjoy our wonderful historystay tuned! In the meantime, check out our posts every week and visit us at La Flecha House. For our first Archives post, here is a look at scrapbook pages from the Rancho Santa Fe Garden Club coll...ection. The Garden Club began in 1926, only four years after architect Lilian Rice began designing the first buildings in RSF. The Club was later recognized as a California nonprofit in 1937. In May of 2021 at North Village Park, The Rancho Santa Fe Garden Club - along with RSFHS, RSF Association, Southwest Boulder, Inn at RSF, artist Nina de Burgh, and Jenny Freeborn - is unveiling a statue of Lilian Rice, the architect of our very own La Flecha House and many core historic buildings in RSF. More information will be forthcoming. #rsfhs #rsfhsarchives #rsfgardenclub #digitalarchives #tbt #archivesathome
