Remember that NO FIREWORKS are allowed within RAFD (or anywhere outside the Rohnert Park city limits). Please help us avoid wildfires. If you see illegal fireworks, you may call the sheriff/police at 9-1-1.
Today was the First ever combined Petaluma/Rancho Adobe Fire Badge Pinning. Congratulations to the recipients of their First or promotional badges.
Confused about defensible space guidelines? Download this PDF from our partners in Santa Rosa: https://srcity.org//Homeowners-Guide-to-Fire-Safe-Landscap Also this link to Permit Sonoma spells out the requirements for property owners to be in compliance with County Ordinance 13A: https://sonomacounty.ca.gov//Hazardous-Vege/Requirements/
This occurred this afternoon on our neighboring city of Rohnert Park. This was a two alarm fire, where we were able to send two engines and one Battalion. More information to follow by City of Rohnert Park Police & Fire
Please take note of the upcoming training burn.

Rancho Adobe Firefighters are currently on scene of a structure fire in Cotati.
This is a serious worry for our area, with the most severe winds anticipated so far this fire season.
RED FLAG WARNING: We are anticipating a strong Diablo Wind event this coming Sunday night and Monday. Although temperatures will be cool, the air will be dry and winds are forecast to be very strong both in the mountains and in the flatlands. RAFD expects to add extra staffing for this event. Please use this weekend to prepare your house: ... * Move inside all porch/patio items which might fly away or catch embers and ignite. * Clean roofs and gutters of leaves and debris. * Rake and remove leaves and all debris near houses, outbuildings and fences. * Keep your yard plants watered. * Do not leave windows open if you are not home. * Keep your car ready to go with full fuel. * Keep track of pets. * Have a good flashlight, long sleeve cotton clothing and a "go" list, just in case. * Stay alert to conditions and updates on NIXLE. Thank you! We will get through this fire season together.
Impressive work.
Fire is contained. More information to follow.
At 3:17 am, Rancho Adobe Fire was dispatched to a vehicle accident in the area of Ely Road and Old Redwood Highway, Penngrove. Battalion 91 arrived on scene to ...a vehicle into a building (Palace of Fruit). The vehicle was on fire inside the structure, and the call was upgraded to a structure fire assignment. The driver of the vehicle, and two other occupants previously involved in a police chase, were pulled out of the vehicle by a CHP Officer through the back window. The structure was severely damaged by the crash and extensive fire. The fire was contained with the assistance of @petaluma_firefighters @northbayfireca @calfire . No other injuries were reported. We would like to thank the CHP Golden Gate Division officers involved in the incident for their heroic actions, job well done. See more
Team Effort: RAFD crews joined with Sonoma Valley Fire, Sonoma County Fire District, Petaluma Fire Department and Sonoma Sheriff's helicopter unit to locate and rescue a hiker in distress on a remote trail on Sonoma Mountain. Units approached the area from multiple directions, with the helo longline making the pick. It's hot out there this weekend! Plan accordingly to stay hydrated and cool. A video of the rescue is on the Sonoma Sheriff page.
RAFD crews responded to a wildfire this afternoon on Lichau Rd. With the help of Rohnert Park, Wilmar and CalFire crews, the fire was contained at 2 acres, fully extinguished and hand line cut all around it. Fires like this are why we have stretched to staff all three fire stations even while having 4 engines on the Walbridge incident for the last 2 weeks. And we appreciate help from watchful witnesses.
Please be safe out there.
Did you know that the Rancho Adobe Fire Protection District has Four Engines, One Water Tender, and Two Overhead Committed to the LNU Lighting Complex and the Lake Fire.
I was wondering if Marin had Air Support, now I know the answer.
Your Rancho Adobe Firefighters are currently assistancing on the Meyers Fire, LNU Lightning Complex, and Walbridge Fire. All three stations are staffed and ready for service.
Here is a look at some of the aftermath of today’s lightning storm. Your Rancho Adobe Firefighters, as well as units throughout the county, have been busy respo...nding to fires caused by the storm here in Sonoma County as well as neighboring Napa County. #wildfire #fireseason #redflagwarning See more
This afternoon, CAL FIRE requested the Sheriff’s helicopter Henry 1 to help with spotting fires started by lightning strikes. Larger fires in other counties had... drawn dedicated firefighting aircraft away from the area. H1’s crew flew a battalion chief to areas where smoke was seen. They worked together with firefighters on the ground relaying locations and best access to fires. Most the fires were in very remote areas West and North of Lake Sonoma. The crew was able to capture these photos of the tree that was hit with a lightning bolt, one with regular video and the second with the infrared camera. Very interesting perspectives of the same tree. After all the fires locations were confirmed, H1 returned to the airport for fuel and immediately launched again to help suppress one of the fires. H1 completed about 20 water drops as firefighters battled flanked and attacked the fire from the ground. All the fires were relatively small and spreading very slowly due to the humidity, calm winds and afternoon rain. There were no structures being threatened and the ground crews were well in control of the situation. Some of the fire crews were assigned to spend the night at the fires and keep a watchful eye on the situation until daybreak.
