Hello Ralph Gracie Berkeley Team, We will return with our outdoor classes this Saturday, February 6th 2021. The class will take place at Malcom X Elementary School on Ashby ave and King street. (2 bloks up from the studio, towards Ashby bart) Kids will train at 10 am, and Adults at 10:45 am.... It is suppose to be a sunny day, nothing bettter that burn some calories before Superbowl! Bring you own water and mask on. (no mask no train) I hope to see you there. I want to take a chance to thank all our members for your support during this time. Without you, we would not be here! I’ve been thinking a lot about my family lately. Yesterday marked the 15-year anniversary of the passing of my uncle, Carlson Gracie. My father, Robson, and my uncle were two of my heroes when I was growing up. When I had my first vale tudo fight at the age 20 in 1992, even before the first UF...C, I knew I was carrying their legacy into battle. I felt as if I had them right next to me in the ring. I miss them greatly. I miss my brother Ryan every day. Although it’s been 13 years since he left us, his memory is as strong as ever. When I see his son, Rayron, I know that he is still with me and Renzo and our family. I miss my children. My son, Rygan, is my inspiration. As many of you know, Rygan fought and beat leukemia. No parent should have to see their child suffer like that. His battle was far greater than anything I ever faced. He is the true champion of our family. I miss my students. As a teacher, nothing feeds my soul more than seeing you grow as martial artists and as people. Every new student who walks into my gym also walks into my family. Our souls become one, bonded by the sweat and tears. I understand times are very difficult for many of you. I appreciate you standing by me, our team, and the gym. I will repay you one day for your loyalty. If there comes a day where you have to fightin a cage or in a hospitalknow that I am there right next to you. This pandemic will end soon and we will once again be together. Please keep the gym going for me. We have good news! We're planning to reopen our academy on Monday, October 19th. Thank you for your patience, loyalty, and support while waiting for this to happen! You've been missed, and we're looking forward to welcoming you back in person. Our priority in reopening is the safety of our members, staff, and their families based on current evidence and local requirements. First, there are some gym-wide changes that all members need to be aware of. Second, we are implementing a new set of personal and gym guidelines that all members and staff must meet in order to train. Our studio will be temporarily closed due to National Emergency. We are back to the purple tier, and gyms are not allowed to have indoor activities. The state's system sorts counties into four tiers "purple" (widespread), "red" (substantial), "orange" (moderate) or "yellow" (minimal) that measures the spread of COVID-19 and dictate what types of businesses and activities are allowed to open. The structure will enable counties to be more restrictive and move more slowly th...an the state in its reopening if they wish. At this time, we will keep our online and outdoor classes. We will keep this schedule till we get back to Red Tier. Online classes: Kids BJJ - Mondays/Wednesdays/Fridays 4 pm Adults BJJ - Mondays/Wednesdays/Fridays 5 pm Beginners BJJ - Wednesday 6 pm Adults BJJ - Saturdays 11:30 am Mobility -Tuesday/Thursday/Saturday 11 am Judo -Tuesday/Thursday 6 pm Outdoor Classes (San Pablo Park) 3 pm Cardio 4 Pm Jiu-Jitsu In the past, a county moved backward by failing to meet the criteria for two consecutive weeks, but Governor Newsom announced Monday counties will now move back into a more restrictive reopening tier after 1 week of data that doesn't meet standards for being in a lower tier.
