Rivers killings: Gov Wike attacked over comments against IPOB, Amaechi Biafra Nations Youth League, BNYL, has attacked the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike for attributing the ongoing crisis in Oyigbo Local Government Area of the State to the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, and the Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Amaechi. The group also condemned the killing of residents in the area by Nigeria soldiers.... The National Leader of BNYL, Prince Chimezie Richard, who addressed reporters in Port Harcourt, called on Wike to intervene before the situation got out of hands. The group warned that what is happening in Oyigbo could lead to rebellion against the Military elsewhere and the country will be thrown into crisis. BNYL dismissed Wike’s claim that the hoodlums who attacked the Police station and the army were members of IPOB. According to Princewill, the protesters had no Biafra insignia and the name of the groups they belong to was not written on their foreheads. The group wondered how Wike would be pointing accusing fingers on a particular group of people when similar incidents happened in Edo, Lagos States and Abuja BNYL also berated Wike for dragging the name of Amaechi into the matter, adding that the Biafran movement is not being sponsored by any Nigerian politician but Biafrans in diaspora. The sessesionist group accused the Rivers Governor of bringing Amaechi into the matter because the former Governor declared that he is an Igbo man, which according to BNYL is against the politics of Rivers State. We know the politics of Rivers State, we know why Wike is politicising his fight against IPOB, if not why is he involving Amaechi, because the former Governor did not publicly deny his Igbo heritage like Wike has done, the group said. The group accused Wike of referring to the Igbos when he called IPOB strange elements in Rivers State, adding that the Rivers people are actively involved in the Biafran movement. BNYL dismissed claims that the Biafran struggle is aimed at annexing territories, saying, That is the way he [Wike] understands it, even though he knows the truth but for political reasons he is covering up. He [Wike] is an Igbo man but he has to appear against the Igbo to please many in Rivers State. He cannot say that some group of which he is referring to Igbos are renaming his community, who does not know that Obigbo was renamed to Oyigbo after it was carved out from old Imo State during boundary adjustment? Who does not know that Egbema was carved into Rivers State from Imo State during same adjustment and who doesn’t know Etchie people are Igbo, who doesn’t know that the name Wike is an Igbo name and that Ikwerre are Igbo? So, how can we annex our own people, you see the politics now, he now claims Amaechi is behind it all because he thinks Amaechi is now fully involved in Igbo affairs.

The decision, Daily Sun gathered, was caused by the recent killings and destruction allegedly linked to Fulani herdsmen in the community. ... No fewer than four persons were recently killed in farms in the southern parts of Ebonyi State in a space of two weeks. The situation heightened tension in the area as many farmers abandoned their farms for fear of being harmed. A couple, Mr and Mrs Joseph Onya Oko, who went to farm, was gruesomely murdered in their farm at Amuzu Nkpogoro community in the local government. Their lifeless bodies were discovered the following day by a search party of youths. Causes of the deaths had not been made public but people suspected herdsmen and boundary dispute. RESOLUTIONS OF NORTHERN STATES GOVERNORS’ FORUM MEETING WITH NORTHERN STATES EMIRS AND CHIEFS HELD ON MONDAY 2ND NOVEMBER, 2020 1. In furtherance to its resolu...tion to further engage with the critical stakeholders of the North, the Northern States Governors Forum held a meeting today Monday 2nd November, 2020 at the Council Chamber, Sir Kashim Ibrahim House, Kaduna. 2. The meeting was attended by His Excellency, the Senate President, of the Federal Republic, the Honourable Deputy Speaker and other members of the National Assembly, the Chief of Staff to the President, the Minister of Federal Capital Territory, the Minister of Information and Culture, the Inspector General of Police, Principal Officers of the National Assembly, Chairmen of the Northern States Traditional Rulers Council led by His Eminence the Sultan of Sokoto amongst others. Collectively agreed that traditional rulers be given formal roles in the governance architecture of the Country. 4. The meeting rejects and condemns the subversive actions of the Endsars protest. The superlative agitations and other change regime actions outside the ballot Box soon take advantage of the peaceful protests to push for their seperative agenda. The meeting endorse the indivisibility, indissolubility and oneness of the Nation. 5. The meeting took note of the devastating effect of the uncontrolled social media in spreading fake news. Therefore, calls for major control mechanism and censorship of the social media practice in Nigeria 6. Meeting raises attention on the need to keep strict watch on the Federal Capital Territory to guide against unwarranted and destructives protests to safeguard critical assets of the Nation. 7. Meeting ccommends the national Assembly and the Presidency in being proactive in addressing the issues of Endsars protests across the country. 8. Meeting noted and appreciated the far reaching efforts of Northern States Governors’ Forum in taking proactive measures to address the Endsars protest in the country and the North in particular. Forum appreciates the roles of National Assembly in engaging the youths and other critical stakeholders of the Nation in resolving the Endsars conflicts. 15. WIKES HANDS ================ Point 2 ----------... ***Gov Wike: The Mighty Has Fallen With the ongoing reign of military terror in Obigbo and environs, involving credible reports of killings, sexual harassments, house breaking, looting, mass arrests, torture and disappearances by Nigerian soldiers, Gov Nyesom Wike has not only acted like an ‘unlettered lawyer’, but also goofed unpardonably in his last week instigation of the ongoing military mayhem in Obigbo and environs. He is therefore inescapably culpable, vicariously and legally speaking. A politically conscious and lettered lawyer-Gov should not have done what he did. It is a settled law and principle that no public office holder, whether elected or appointed, has a right or power to take or order for taking away of life of another or others. The Gov should have known better both as a lawyer and a politician that the present Nigerian Army, its composition and conducts are highly questionable and far from being secularity friendly. Apart from earning notoriety in butchering of thousands of defenseless citizens since August 2015 mostly on the grounds of their religion and tribe and provocatively denying same; the Nigerian Army has become so blood thirsty for innocent and defenseless citizens that it looks for slightest loophole or excuse or opportunity to massacre and terrorize the defenseless especially on the grounds of their tribe and religion. This time around, Gov Wike has fallen into its trap. He is also made himself a potential guest of ICC and other international justice chambers. That is to say that reasons being adduced by the Gov are utterly inexcusable, unfounded and vexatious. Over 200 soldiers, conservatively speaking, have independently been confirmed killed this year alone by jihadist insurgents in Borno, Katsina, etc yet the areas where they were killed are still inhabited by humans, animals and properties. They not only cut across the country, but also were instigated by the Government of Nigeria, its soldiers who massacred over fifteen peaceful protesters at Lekki Tollgate and the Islamist hoodlums allied with Nigerian Government to attack and kill protesters. "For all that we know, Lagos State lost more properties and citizens than Rivers State, yet heaven has not let loose. That is not to say that those behind the dastardly act in Rivers State should be spared. Therefore, Gov Wike acted extra-judicially by unlawfully and undemocratically arrogating to himself power of investigator, prosecutor, judge and hangman; a training and expertise he never has. Biafra Restoration Movement (BRM) operators of the famous Radio Biafra International (RBi) condemns in strong terms the ethnic and hate based instigated profiling of Ndigbo in River State under the pretext of hunting for members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) in River State by Gov. Nyesom Wike and his cabinet. It’s clear even to the blind that Wike is obviously acting a script with his declaration of war on Ndigbo in the name of fighting IPOB members. We all know that the recent #EndSARS protests that became violent at a time and led to torching of Police Stations and harming of members of the security forces in most states of the federation involved the participation of all and sundry. How Wike quickly without any investigation concluded that IPOB members exclusively carried out the burning of stations and the killing of security officers in River State shows the governor is clearly on a mission. Is Wike also insinuating that IPOB members carried out mayhem in other states? The truth is that the protest was hijacked by hoodlums sponsored by Politicians like Wike and not by IPOB or Ndigbo Although the mission of the governor is not clear. But the way and manner he and his cabinet members are going about it points to one outcome: Deal with Ndigbo and get rewarded posture. Already, the governor has hit the ground running with the assigned task. He has ordered his Local Government Chairmen to ‘’Fish Out’’ Ndigbo under the pretext of IPOB members within their domain. He has promised to pay N20m each to the families of the security forces killed by IPOB members. The most childish is his attempts to always link IPOB members to cultism. And in keeping with the task that must be done, he also prevailed on the Commissioner of Police in the state, Joseph Mukan to add his voice by ‘’ordering Ndigbo under the pretext of IPOB to relocate from the state or get treated as terrorists’’. It’s obvious that the governor is clearly inciting hatred against Ndigbo by expressly claiming that IPOB killed the security forces and not the hoodlums that hijacked the protest that is not limited to one ethnic group. The truth is that every thing happening in River State seems scripted. The governor is obviously acting someone’s script. If not, he would have as a lawyer understood that his claim that it is a Nigerian Court that declared IPOB a terror group and not him is a stale news. If Wike is sincere to himself and not that he tends to hunt Ndigbo, there is no way he will miss the judgement delivered by the very judge that handled the trial of IPOB leader and his co-accused, Justice Binta Nyako who ruled sometimes in March 2017 that ‘’IPOB NOT UNLAWFUL GROUP’’. If Wike as an NBA member is today mouthing to have acted based on the ‘’shopped’’ ex-parte order by the Federal Government that lacked fair hearing, then it will be unfortunate if the NBA fails to call him to order especially since both courts have concurrent jurisdiction. Even the CP and Wike that are mouthing about giving Ndigbo terrorist treatments should be educated that the current way of treating even confirmed terrorists caught in the act is to ‘’De-radicalise, Educate and Re-integrate’’. Don’t you want those you are tagging terrorists to be treated according to the FG recommended standard again? Is it because they are IPOB and by extension Ndigbo who must be given different treatment? So far, we are aware that over 30 Igbo lives have been wasted due to Wike’s instigated actions. Over 45 missing and presumed killed. We are much pained that Wike’s instigated actions did not spare Igbo children and women as 20 persons in this category are known to have been wounded after getting shot by security forces. Wike should go after Herdsmen and Cultists that are killing people in his state. The media is awash with reports of those killed by these entities in the state. Until Wike jumped the gun and started hunting the Ndigbo, there is no reported incident of IPOB members killing anybody in the state (we stand to be corrected). Finally, the fishing out, dehumanization, molestation, arrest and execution of Igbos as well as burning of Igbo owned properties in River State must stop. Wike must as a matter of urgency release those arrested and paraded like common criminals. He must also release the bodies of those executed to their families. He must more importantly not deny his actions and words when it’s time for accountability. He must be ready to bear the consequences of his actions when those he has acted their scripts abandons him to his fate. We will not end this press statement without calling on the leadership of IPOB and Radio Biafra LondonRBL to equally learn to be circumspect with their broadcasts. They must understand that broadcasting comes with responsbilities. The essence of any Biafran owned station broadcasts must remain to educate, inform, enlighten and prepare our people for the expected Biafra restoration. Using their station to tag any Biafran or group with different view as saboteur, criminal, betrayal, traitor, DSS agent, sell-out etc is indicative of people who have nothing to offer and thus employing confuse the issue strategy in an attempt to hid their emptiness. RBL must stop instigating our youths to violence and thus giving our naysayers the opportunity to keep the blood of our people flowing. The action a freedom fighter intends to take must be in his mind and not in his mouth. IPOB must stop making things difficulty for geniune groups that are truly reaching out to the powers-that-be.
