Weekly Safety Tip! Labor Day weekend is normally a time of celebrations, reunions and family vacations. This year, though, it’s important to reconsider the activities you engage in with friends and family. We’ve seen the number of people infected with COVID-19 spike after Memorial Day and Fourth of July holidays. To keep our communities healthy, and to be able to reopen schools statewide, we need to avoid that happening this holiday weekend. This means staying close to home..., spending time with members of your household, avoiding crowds, and following public health guidance. If you do host or attend a small gathering, follow the guidance from your particular county and/or state which include: Make sure to stay outdoors where the extra air movement helps defuse respiratory particles Keep the gathering small Even outdoors wear your mask and maintain social distancing Wash your hands frequently with soap and water or hand sanitizer While thinking about how to celebrate the end of this unusual summer, it’s a good idea to get clear with family and friends about what activities you are comfortable doing. Here are some ways to discuss your approach when someone asks you to attend a gathering: Share how you feel. What are your thoughts about the current protections? What fears do you wish your loved ones would understand? Share information. For example, if you feel pressured to join an activity because your family or friends think you are unlikely to catch the virus, you can explain that you do not want to potentially spread the virus. Have a fun and SAFE weekend! www.pureingenium.com #wecareforyourworld

Weekly Safety Tip. Be safe, hydrate! Here are some tips to stay hydrated during the hot summer months: 1. Drink plenty of water throughout the day. A suggested amount is 8 8-oz glasses per day, but that would vary depending on the amount of exercise or other activities that would cause you to become more dehydrated. 2. Know the signs of dehydration (dry or itchy skin, headache or dizzy, fatigue, muscle cramps, rapid breathing or not urinating.) 3. Pay attention to the color ...or your urine to be sure it is a light, straw color. Dark urine is an indication of dehydration. 4. Avoid alcohol, sugary drinks and caffeine. 5. Avoid overheating by wearing loose fitting, lightweight clothing. Wear a hat. Schedule playing sports at cooler times of the day. Mist yourself with water. 6. Eat foods with high water content such as cucumbers, celery, tomatoes, radishes, peppers, watermelon, cauliflower, spinach and strawberries. All these contain 90% water or higher. 7. Don't love water? Try adding a bit of flavor by adding a squeeze of lemon or lime, a slice of cucumber or orange, a few berries or a spritz of mint. Avoid artificial sweeteners or preservatives. Try coconut water for a change of pace. www.pureingenium.com See more
