Living your life to the fullest can get messy sometimes... and that's okay! Sometimes, we actually encourage it Going outside and getting your hands dirty can help you with so much more than just getting some exercise and Vitamin D. Did you know that the microbes found in soil have shown to play a positive role in gut and brain health? The same chemicals that enable plants to capture essential nutrients and that determine their color, smell, and flavor also directly benefi...t us by stimulating our immune system, regulating our hormones and reducing anxiety. So go outside and play in the dirt! And if you do, share a picture with us in the comments below!
Did you know that green and red bell peppers come from the same plant?? Until a few years ago, I had always thought that they were completely different peppers! But green bell peppers are just the unripe fruit, before they mature and turn a deep, lovely red shade. Depending on the variety and level of ripeness, bell peppers can also turn yellow and orange, or even dark purple, brown, white, and lavender shades! You may have wondered why the warm colored peppers are more exp...ensive than the green ones at the store. This is because they have spent more time on the vine ripening, which means they needed more water, nutrients, and care as well! "Like" this post if you already knew this pepper fact OR "Love" it if this is new to you!
Take time this week to get outside Enjoy the sunshine, plant some seeds, or start a garden! You have the power to create something beautiful, even if it looks small today. What is something you have growing in your garden right now? Let us know in the comments!

All of your contributions are tax-deductible and go right back into serving our community. You can do a one-time gift, or choose the reoccurring giving option to become a monthly donor. ... It feels great checking off a few of the last boxes on our end of the year to do list! Last weekend we had an amazing group of volunteers come out and help us plant 50 oak trees at Victory Park Wow! We are so grateful for the community support and for everyone who shares our dream of making Stockton a great place to live. And thanks to Shaqouya Jones for the photos! What are some things on your list you would like to finish before the end of the year?? Let us know in the comments

**Our Saturday Halloween MASKerade Event has been CANCELED** While creating protocols in line with public health requirements, we have received concerns from the community which cannot be ignored. Much to our disappointment, the MASKerade event on Saturday, October 31 is cancelled. We apologize for the late notice but the well-being of the community is priority. PUENTES is thankful for community support and we look forward to continuing to support our community.
We would like to send a BIG warm shout out this Thursday morning to our friends at Nekter Juice Bar! Their donation of leftover pulp helps feed our egg laying hens! Did you know?! What isn’t eaten by the hens is turned into compost and allows us to create our own fertilizer right from the farm, closing the nutrient cycle, preventing climate heating greenhouse gas emissions and sequestering carbon into the soil. Talk about sustainable farming!! ... Be sure to visit our friends Nekter Juice Bar here in Stockton for a tasty freshly made juice drink or smoothie.
Check out our mini pigs rooting for dried plums in food forest this beautiful fall morning! Instead of wasted fruit on the ground harboring potential tree pathogens, this resource is converted to manure to add fertility back to our trees. And our lovely chickens help spread the pig manure around and prevent flies/parasites through eating the larvae! After a couple more weeks this pasture will be closed off to all the animals so the ground can recover and absorb the added fe...rtility in preparation for spring. #greengarden #sustainablefarming
My, my, my what a site to see! Check out these giant heads of merlot lettuce for sale this Saturday! Grown in compost and worm castings, inter planted with onions and arugula!
