Thanks to all who have donated towards and shared our fundraiser for Mr. Robert Tambuzi's medical bills. We still have a ways to go to reach our goal, but every little bit helps greatly. Please spread the word, and give if you are able by going to the following link: https://gofund.me/d46d8b6e Thank you!

This articulates why our mission is so important. Feeling "lost, forgotten and left behind" is a sentiment shared by far too many community members in Southeastern San Diego.
Sharing this story from our friends at San Diego Food System Alliance. Please watch, there's some good information here! Thanks NBC 7 San Diego for putting this together!
What do you believe our region should do to make food healthier, more sustainable, and more just? Our friends at @San Diego Food System Alliance have developed a set of potential strategies for transforming San Diego County's food system, based on the input of thousands of San Diegansincluding experts, food system workers, and residents. Now, it's time to review the strategies. Take the short survey at engage.sdfsa.org/strategies to share which ones are most important to you. #sdfoodvision2030
Join us for our Garden Refresh Event at the Mt. Hope Community Garden happening Nov.6th & 7th! It's time to give our beloved community garden a makeover, and with support from the good people at Tito's Handmade Vodka, we'll be hosting a two-day work/fun event open to everyone in the community. We'll be following safe guidelines for social gatherings, so there will be four different shifts - two on Friday 11/6, two on Saturday 11/7, and we will require all participants to reserve a spot in advance by emailing [email protected]. See the flyer below for more information, and we hope to see you there!
Even though we're still dealing with some heat during the days, the nights are starting to get longer and cooler. Time to plant some cool-season veggies (if you haven't already!): broccoli, Brussels sprouts, beets, cabbage, carrots, cauliflower, endive, fava beans, kale, kohlrabi, lettuce, parsley, peas, potatoes (white), spinach and turnips. What are you growing?
For all who missed our virtual birthday event on Tuesday, here is some great drone footage produced by the talented Serrano’s Aerial Photography. Big thanks to all who attended, both in-person and virtually!
Bro Salwazi talked today at our Fannie Lou Hamer Virtual Birthday Celebration about the importance of Fannie Lou Hamer. He also discusses the connection with October being Breast Cancer Awareness month, as Fannie Lou Hamer succumbed to breast cancer many years ago, and his wife is undergoing treatment now. A very powerful, moving, and important message. #FLH2020 #Foodjustice #breastcancerawarenessmonth
Happy Birthday to Fannie Lou Hamer!!! Thanks for joining our virtual celebration
Check out our Fannie Lou Hamer Virtual Birthday Celebration happening tomorrow (10/6) at 10am! Please join us in honoring the legacy of a civil rights leader - we'll be streaming on Facebook Live from this page.
