Intact males. Why do other dogs not like them? Many owners do not know that having an intact male will require double the boundaries, daily impulse control training and double the exercise outlets. ... Hormones tell dogs to compete for breeding rights. When we do not put the hormones to work, the hormones cause a dog to feel overwhelmed, defense drive, cocky, stressed, anxious and competitive (most see this as play). Majority of dogs do not like intact males because thier energy is typically insecure while cocky. However, usually the same dogs are fine with balanced in tact males but not the ones who lack balance s in exercise, discipline, and affection. No dog will trust an insecure dog who is cocky. It is normal for dogs to want to lay down boundaries to intact dogs because they usually lack it from the owner. As a dog owner of a working breed, the same thing can happen if we don’t put them to work around unstable dogs. Someone is always going to try to calm another dog down if they feel the dog has too much freedom. What is hard is that human perspectives usually see a happy in tact dog when other dogs usually don’t. Dogs can also build negative memories and associations if we rush them too close, too soon without enough guidance with unstable dogs. Seeing the energy or smell of intact dog can also become a triggered learned response just like humans. We can only work through it. Not avoid it. If your dog doesn’t like in tact dogs, then it’s time to not put him into situations where he feels the need to manage the dog for everyone. Increase proximity to decrease intensity and put him to work there. Primal K9 Coaching

PLAY TIME! Did you know? Leaving your toys all over your home and yard will lead to more impulsive chewing. ... Did you know? Scattering toys around the home to keep a dog busy can cause stress, impulsive behavior, A.D.D and self taught creative chewing that is caused by no structured direction around excitement and freedom before compliance. I’m going to give you a 30 day challenge... PICK UP ALL THOSE TOYS!!! 1. Put them all away into a basket. 2. Notice your dog in need for something To do. 3. If you dog Initiates attention, send to their bed to relax until your ready for tug or fetch time. 4. The more driven the dog is for the toy, the more you can challenge them to sharpen up commands in order to earn each tug or chase. 5. 5 minutes a day minimum to initiate play with your dog in a manner that fixes your relationship! Seriously... I’m not joking. 5 minutes a day of one on one time goes a long way! In fact.... 5 minutes of structured tug or chase (fetch) with your dog can teach and drain way more energy. Scattered toys teach a dog to give themself directions. It teaches the dog that it’s fun the be the decision maker. It teaches our dog that they don’t need to ask for permission to chase or follow an impulse. It teaches them that they don’t need us and can be independent rather than ask us for directions around impulses. Impulses? Yes. The natural impulse to follow movements, smells, and chewing. The natural impulses that they will get rewarded for following rather than to ask for directions and understand boundaries. Unhealthy Spoiling verses productive spoiling.... Toys cannot replace working with us. Period

So much truth to this. A confident dog is quiet and calm. A nervous dog is loud and reactive. One is sure of what to do when in real danger. The other is paranoid.
