Muriera (Vice President, Board of Directors at Californians for the Arts): "Next year, California will be facing a severe budget deficit. It is integral that we demonstrate to our elected officials and decision makers that our sector continues to be a valuable part of the solution to emerge from this pandemic. We can only tell our story if we have current data." Please take a moment to complete and submit the survey and to share with other arts, creative and cultural members in your networks.

Comrades! For years, readers have asked me to self-publish an anthology of my Metro columns. I am thrilled to announce that in mid-November it will finally happ...en. Hand-picked by yours truly, this will be a collection of greatest hits from 15 years of the Silicon Alleys page, assembled in chronological order in one mammoth volume, available via print-on-demand or ebook. I am not able to set up a pre-order, but after November 16th, you'll be able to buy it via Amazon, Indiebound, Bookshop, or however you prefer to order books. Don't worry, I'll remind you. Oh, I'll definitely remind you. More will be revealed, but at the moment I will say this: Aside from ramming home the value of an alt-weekly newspaper in these dreaded days when fewer people seem to understand these things, I hope the book will inspire others to view their own cities in new, creative, zonked-out ways. That was always the point. This was never about me. It’s about squirming deep into the crevices of this massive place we call home and expanding one’s own awareness. That said, I could not have done this alone, so I got by with a little help from my friends, in particular, Sean George who designed the interior and Kara Brown who designed the cover. Both are geniuses. You’ll love what they did. And special thanks to Dan and all the editors who've put up with me over the years. Too many to list here, but they know who they are. You can read more on my website: http://www.garysingh.info/books/ In the meantime, here’s a teaser, thanks to Cotton Stevenson, Pam Kelly and CreaTV:
