Which edgy winery comes to mind when I say witty, irreverent, + wine that exudes adventurous flavor profiles plus 90+ point ratings for legendary wines? Hint - Their award-winning wines includes 2019 Suite Petite (92 points Wine Enthusiast + Gold Medal San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition), 2019 Sir Real Cabernet Sauvignon (90 Points Wine Enthusiast) + 2018 Sofa King Bueno (90 points Wine Enthusiast). If you said @chroniccellars you’re right on the money. This fun-lo...ving winery was founded by 2 brothers, Josh + Jake, the sons of the Becketts, the founders of iconic @peachycanyonwinery in Paso. They were raised with the heart + soul of Paso Robles Wine County + grew up with chores such as washing barrels, punching down fermenting grapes + working the bottling line (good job mom and dad!). One evening they sat alongside the Peachy Canyon crush pad in their wine stained clothes + wet boots laughing about the idea of starting up a winery that targeted a laid-back lifestyle. Well it had to be named their fave adjective, Chronic, that they used to describe the best, chill objects. And so it was. FEATURED WINE 2019 Suite Petite: All class + a little sass, Suite Petite goes after what she wants. Next stop, a spot in the poshest penthouse! Buckle up for a Petite Sirah that’s equally elegant + powerful. This seductive stunner brings together bodacious flavors of bursting blackberries, blueberries, anise + a delightfully subtle hint of cacao + baking spices. With balanced tannins + a full mouthfeel, she’ll keep you on your toes wanting her all the more. This Yelp review sums up the experience that awaits you, The decor is vivid, the wines are delicious, + the property is fun, with games outside + a nice spot for a picnic. They even allowed us to bring our dog in with us to taste. (We tasted the wine...no one tasted the dog). Take a virtual tour of @chroniccellars text Chronic to 24587

Whoa! Colossal awards from the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition for @anarchywineco ! Of all the wine competitions, THIS IS THE ONE to win, it’s the largest in the world. No surprise, the original wine rebel, Christian Tietje, is riding high with his brand, @AnarchyWineCo This is fanfreakintastic10 out 10 awards scored in San Francisco: 2 Double Golds, 3 Golds, 2 Silver, 3 Bronze! ..its been a real creative wave for a lot of blends that I’ve been sculpting in my he...ad for a while now. That wave has burst onto the scene to the exaltation of wine lovers, with faves such as Heretic + flagship Anarchy (Zinfandel, Mourvdre + Syrah blend), both 2020 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition winners. Obsessed with extreme winemaking, he takes it to a whole new level-fully exploring the hidden characteristics of pure varietals, + creating blends that obliterate the rules of convention. His big ass wines land euphorically on the palate with curated balance + reflect his escape from the conventional, to take you down roads others are too cautious to travel, finding perfection that is unconfined by rules. In the Paso wine scene, he has been crafting wine that no one has ever seen, including kicking off a series of boundry-pushing labels the he lovingly referred to as The Freakshow. And as you’d expect there’s no frou-frou hereexpect fine rock music blasting in the tasting room, flaming red light fixtures hanging from the raw ceiling + an antique silver wardrobe whose mirrored doors swing open to the winery. Wild boy, winemaker + owner, Christian, is blowing up his hood, just outside of Tin City off Hwy 101a lotta cool ‘sapnen here. If this sounds like your thing, then you sound like their kind of people. Ride the wave with @AnarchyWineCo located in the urban winery enclave shared with other talent such as @sevenoxen (another fave of mine). They are all part of a generation of concentrated exploration who are trailblazing a path of notable innovation that is pushing the limits with panache. Named Winery of the Year by Doug Wilder recently of the very prestigious industry publication, Purely Domestic Wine Report, plus ultra cool vibes make this a hands-down must-visit winery for serious wine lovers. Over 90 gold/double gold/platinum + a handful of Best-in-Show + Best-in-Class awards from the top tier int’l wine review publications + competitions have been amassed. It's all the more impressive as Brecon only enters a few select wine competitions + wines often se...ll out before they are reviewed. This dog-friendly, boutique winery is the creation of an international award-winning winemaker, Damian Grindley + his wife, Amanda, who are clearly devoted to the craft of producing a wide range of world class wines, along with what Damian describes as unusual blends. As fabulous as their unusual blends, is their love story. It began while exploring a cave in Australia where these 2 avid international cavers first met. Wow! Damian, who hails from Wales, explored a cave under a vineyard. It sparked his fascination with soils + their effect on grape quality + ultimately the wine. Always curious, Damian has mastered vineyard management which includes the oldest Cab Sauv vines in Paso that his premium wines reflect beautifully. Just try their 2017 Reserve Cabernet that is bright, complex + delivers a silky smooth tannin + lingering finish. If you can resist, set it in a cool, dark place + wait a few yrs. SCORE!! 5 new releases discounted + 75% off shipping on 4 + bottles ends Feb 14. Petite Sirah. (Gold) Yum! back after almost a yr. Reserve Syrah (Gold) Cabernet Franc (Best of Show) Rosé (Just in time for Feb 14) Zin, Sauret Clone (Inaurgural release!) Buy at bit.ly/Brecon2 I also swoon over their cool tasting room designed by San Fran-based 2013 Smithsonian Architects of the Yr. The large wine bar is open to the scenic property surrounded by their estate vineyard + ancient majestic oak trees via a sliding glass wall. You can mosey up to the bar + enjoy wine alfresco on the fab patio or you can chose to sip + savor at the picnic tables on the lawn beyond.

New, chic, stunning winery, yes! Organically farmed, yes! Dog-friendly, yes! Producing the finest small batch, premium boutique Bordeaux style blends + Cabernet Sauvignon, yes! This is a must-visit winery. Newest kid on the block,@sixmilebridgevineyards is owned by Jim + Barbara Moroney who greatly admire + appreciate the talent that winemakers bring to the craft of making fine wines. That said, one of the most esteemed winemakers in Paso Robles, Anthony Yount (also the winem...aker for @dennervineyards ), works alongside his talented wife, Hillary Yount, who manages their vineyard. She meticulously cares for their 23-acre vineyard planted on the famed west side in Paso Robles with the Moroney’s favorite varietals: Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Malbec, Petit Verdot, Zinfandel, Sauvignon Blanc + Semillon. If you love white wines + rosés, they have you covered. The inspiration for the winery’s name hails from a small town, Sixmilebridge (yes, all one word) located in County Clare, Ireland, where Jim’s great grandfather James Moroney (pictured) lived prior to immigrating to the U.S. When you visit you’ll want to get the full lowdown on the captivating history that ties the Moroney’s back to their heritage + what their logo represents. Interested in purchasing their wines? Visit sixmilebridge.com to get on their list. By signing up, you’ll be guaranteed an allocation of their gorgeous wines when they are released, but, even better than a wine club, you are not obligated to purchase. Their wines are also available for purchase in their new tasting room. Wine Picks: 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon - Black currant, lilac, hickory + wet stones. Their 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon, was included in their 2020 Fall Release, + is incredibly focused on the long finish but lightens with a citrusy top note at the very end. 2017 Incantation - Expressive plum, orange peel, + mocha. Their 2017 Incantation, the last wine in last year’s Fall Release, is quite the showstopper. It’s unlike any Malbec you’ve tasted before. Coming up in this Spring is their 2018 Sauvignon Blanc + 2019 Rosé (provençal style, yum, MY fave!)

Wine without human stories is just grape juice with alcohol, right? As such, chronicling the journey of folks behind beloved wineries opens up a world of connectivity, depth + dancing visuals. . A story that touched the ocean-loving side of me is that of @sextantwine. The sextant is an old-world instrument that uses the sun, stars, + horizon for ships to navigate across open water. When the owner Craig Stoller 1st thought of christening his new winery Stoller, he found out th...at the name was already in use in OR. In the quest to come up with a special name, a @fieldrecordings friend asked ‘Well, what do you like to do?’ Craig responded ‘Go to sea with my dad. It’s eurphoric for me.’ Fittingly, he settled upon Sextant as his winery’s name. . It also aptly describes his approach to tending the vineyard + crafting fine wine - vineyard management + winemaking are fluid journeys that require exact navigation. . In navigating the grapes to bottle, Sextant declared their flag’ship’ (!) wines as the following; ‘The Wheelhouse’ Wheelhouse as in from where one pilots the boat. ‘Holystone’ which happens to be an old term: For centuries, seamen would scrub the large ship’s wooden decks with a soft sandstone on their knees. Finding oneself in a praying position lent the pumice to be referred to as the Holystone. . The 3rd flagship wine is ‘Night Watch’, a proprietary red blend made from the best barrels of reserve wine. It's dark, like the night. This last wine is layered with blackberries, raspberries, + strawberries on the approach along with hibiscus + mesquite on the nose. Rounded tannins + ample acidity stretch the fruit-forward profile to a velvety + cresting mouthfeel adding in hints of licorice + black tea on the integrated finish. . @Sextantwines continue to garner accolades from Wine Enthusiast, San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition, Central Coast Wine Competition, + Food + Beverage World + everyday wine lovers who have the opportunity to visit the winery; ‘The "nautical" vibe flows throughout (the tasting room, + between the sea-inspired ceiling + the great wood decorations I didn't want to leave, + we stayed here for hours until they were finally closing.’ See more

One consistently magical vineyard, that is also steeped in sustainability, is that of @SevenOxen. The mystical name, Seven Oxen, refers to a translation of an ancient Mediterranean term for the 7 stars of the Big Dipper that circle the North Star through the year like a team of oxen rounding a threshing floor quite. This visual is emblematic of the harvest season when the vine’s hard work carried out over the spring + summer, gifts us the fruits of their labor. . Their stunni...ng Estate Vineyard is perched high up in the hills of the Templeton Gap in Paso Robles, + positioned as an ideal place to witness the cycle of the stars through the seasons. Just as the position of the North Star remains constant throughout, so do their principles of stewardship + responsibility as they share their land, fruit + wine with visitors to their tasting room + beyond. . (Psst, grab your 2 for 1 wine tasting COUPON, text Specials to 24587) . Taste their vineyard’s flagship stellar wine, 2016 Mourvèdre. 5 acres of the vineyard are devoted to Mourvèdre + another 4 acres were planted with the varietal in 2014. Mourvèdre is very tolerant of the intense summer heat that we can have in Paso, + thrives when head-pruned as are the vines in the Seven Oxen Vineyard. Because of the minimalist approach in the winery, Seven Oxen’s Mourvèdre is an excellent representation of the varietal, made unique by the complex characteristics of the vineyard’s natural environment. . Outstanding Wine Pick: Seven Oxen 2016 Mourvèdre. Composed of 90% Mourvèdre + 10% Grenache, this wine beautifully displays all of the characteristics of the varietal. This lean, bright wine is dominated with notes of tart cherry, cranberry + strawberry, with subtle earthy undertones + a smooth, silky finish. Aged 18 mos in 1 year old French Oak. The full-bodied flavors of the Mourvèdre are balanced with a touch of Grenache, giving this complex wine a subtle, round fruitiness. Pairs well with game, marinated meat + mildly spicy foods. . What’s going to be in your glass tonight? . Head over to Seven Oxen Tasting Room in the Tin City Area on Ramada Dr . A stunning winery is a must-visit on Adelaide Rd, a mere 10 min from downtown. It distantly reminds me of the old El Encanto Hotel in Montecito with its white clapboard, chic, ranch-style tasting room punctuated by the large wood barn winery facility just up the hill. You’ll lounge in the airy tasting room, sit on the charming wrap-around porch or expansive patio + feast your eyes on the 20 acres of vineyard that lies beneath you. . We visit often + are always mesmerized by i...ts beauty. Be certain to bring along your furry wingman . For a virtual tour text Parrish to 24587 . Not to brag, but 1 thing Paso is known + loved for - its genuine warmth. My theory is that people have chosen to move to Paso because of its beauty + you don’t have to be a kajillionaire to live here, making it more laid-back + accessible to fun-loving, regular joes. . A stand-out family that put down roots in Paso is the Gleason family who founded @fourlanternswinery named after their four daughtersseriously, isn’t that touching?
