Plumas Sierra County Fairgrounds 27.06.2021

Slowly but surely, I'm getting all the information put together for everyone. Check out the website to download the updated exhibit guide and see a snappy calendar I actually taped together and then scanned that has some important fair information for everyone. Sure, we can have a fair, and an Americana Festival, and a new series of concerts with the Reno Pops (more information on that soon), but why don't we throw in the Sierra Freedom Mini Festival! It's an exciting square dance event that will feature the top callers and cuers IN THE NATION! Besides being the Cleanest and Greenest (remember that?), we want to be THE square dance destination on the West Coast! And why not?

The PSCF Foundation is looking to make a little extra scratch for the fairgrounds by having a White Elephant/Garage/Yard Sale in Serpilio Hall. We already have some good stuff that you absolutely need! Plan on coming out to the fairgrounds on Memorial Day Weekend!

Wow! What a whirlwind! Here's the quick update for the fair. We just found out a few days ago that our carnival can not make it to Quincy on the days we had scheduled. Before anyone gets too upset with this, you should all know that this carnival has been above and beyond for the Plumas Sierra County Fair and the operator was trying everything he could to get us a carnival for our scheduled dates, with no luck. You should also know that this is the ONLY carnival that is avail...able to us. Times have changed and there are very few carnivals of an appropriate size that COULD come here, but at least in the middle of August, they will not come here. So, our carnival operator said he is willing to travel all the way from Oregon to open for us the following week, and then travel all the way back to Oregon for the next week. That ain't cheap to do and we appreciate him doing it. This is certainly inconvenient, but at least the event will go on rather than just cancelling it another year. So, the livestock shows and auction WILL happen the scheduled week of the fair, then the carnival, entertainment, races, food vendors, non-food vendors, and the exhibit halls will be open August 19-22. We are working as we speak to confirm that many of these participants can make it, and so far, 99% said they are happy to change the dates. We will keep you informed as we learn more. Yet another Fair to Remember! See more

This is for those of us, in every community of Plumas County, who got their school clothing from these people. The entire Ayoob Family was honored as Grand Marshals in the 1984 Fair Parade.

It has been a BUSY winter! Let's get started on our historical pictures again. This is like one of those "what's different" pictures. For one, the tree out front is about 50' taller and the this roof is flat. Is that a chimney we see? Kind of like the blue paint! Yes, this is the Mineral Building from the 70's.

We are so glad everyone is enjoying Chipper's Christmas Wonderland! It has been a blast putting it all together. Remember, you can come again this Friday and Saturday nights, from 6pm to 8pm, AND the following weekend, same nights and times. Here's what we will give everyone this weekend to let the world know who helped out. Sorry if we missed anyone, but just let me know. We've added about 1500 more lights and a few more displays. It just keeps getting better!

Many fairgrounds have Christmas displays, but I can't think of another that features all hand painted scenes! The spirit, pride, anticipation, excitement and joy for this project is overwhelming! I was probably a little over-ambitious thinking we would open the day after Thanksgiving. All the people are just putting in unbelievable hours, so they really should enjoy their Thanksgiving and we will open this Christmas treat on Friday, December 4 at 6pm. This drive thru display of lights and festive scenes will be open to the public every Friday and Saturday night from 6pm to 8pm, every weekend in December leading up to Christmas. More details next week!

Kenley Neer was honored with the Gene Drybread Memorial Award this year as having the highest placing market animal for a first year 4H or FFA Beef Project. Here she is with her mom Megan, who did a fantastic job organizing this year's auction. The award is usually presented by Fair Board Director Thelma Olson, but due to the pandemic, Thelma says, "Congratulations Kenley!"
