Hello, beautiful Playful People Community! As we finally end this crazy year and transition into the new year, I feel it important to reflect on 2020, and express gratitude for the positive events, people and support.... We started the year off with a very positive and successful show, Mamma Mia, which was one of the most successful financially, emotionally, and community building we have ever had. It brought so many families, musicians, staff, and individuals together in such a fun experience. It was truly magical! We followed that with the delightful and cute Dinosaurs Before Dark with its spinning treehouse and enchanting cast. We were in production with four shows when the coronavirus hit. We tried to keep them going, but had to drop two, one turned into a reading, and one kept going as a zoomsical. We had to completely change direction in everything we did, and our staff jumped right into learning new skills off the cuff and creating new programming. You, our community, rallied behind us with donated refunds from summer camps and shows, donating to a matching fundraiser, Giving Tuesday, Facebook fundraising, a Photography fundraiser, and signing up for virtual shows and classes. We applied for loans, grants, and whatever we could to keep going, keep our staff paid, and hire as many out of work artists as we could. We worked much longer hours than normal creating, learning, and doing these things. We created a Diversity Task Force, added four new board members who have also jumped right into assisting, and a marketing expert. We shall feature and introduce those new board members next week! We have kept the light burning. All of us together. We are full of gratitude and hope! As we transition into the new year, we still face challenges: virtual programming until it is safe to be together in whatever size we can, a move of our storage and office space, new programming, new faces and new experiences, we will still maintain our positive, inclusive and kind philosophy and loving community. Meet the instructor - Haleyann Hart Basics of Musical Theater Dance Haleyann Hart has been performing and training in musical theatre for over 15 years and continues to be a triple threat. She is a recent graduate of the renowned Musical Theater program at UCLA where she was the dance captain of two Main Stage musicals, choreographed a production of Little Shop of Horrors, and performed in and choreographed other dance and singing productions. She was a member of YOUTHphoni...cs A Cappella- an organization dedicated to community service and music education. Other favorite credits include performing at Woodminster Amphitheatre in Oklahoma! and Joseph and the... Dreamcoat, and attending the Rockettes Summer Intensive in NYC where she received a prestigious scholarship award. Before her years at UCLA, she performed at ACT and had professional performing experience working with the famous Silhouettes dance group and other professional engagements, She loves to teach children of all ages and has worked at summer camps and dance studios in Las Vegas, and in the Bay Area. 2 sessions to choose from: Ages 8-12 on Wednesdays Ages 13-17 on Tuesdays Classes start next week!!
