Have you heard the news!? Starting this Saturday, reservations are no longer needed for the SF location! Come in and climb for as long as you like. (Belmont, SV, & SC are still using reservations) With that said, please remember we still are operating at 50% capacity and it is recommended that you check out our occupancy meter online (Link in Below) to see if space is available. ... Please remember to check out at the front desk at the end of your session to ensure that our counter is reflecting how many people are in the gym. Happy Pride Month! In the past and even still today, LGBTQIA+ individuals and allies were forced to hide themselves or were not supported in who they truly are. Let's celebrate their courage and the many paths to discovering and expressing our truest selves with Pride. #pride

It's near, it's here; it's the end of the year! And what a year it has been! Today, for #throwbackthursday, we are looking back at 2020. This year has been a struggle and it is easy to be bogged down by the disappointments and clipped hopes we may have experienced but that means that it is even more important to dig deep and celebrate all the things you did accomplish. While it may not be as much as you have in previous years, accomplishments are still something to be proud o...f. Some years are like that; you don't get as much done as you would like for reason - time restraints, an injury, a global pandemic. We'd love to hear what you are proud of from 2020 and what you are looking forward to next year! Here's hoping we can push harder in 2021 and build on what we did in 2020!

Happy Holidays! While we have been closed, team members came together to repurpose retired gym ropes to create rope rugs of various sizes. Suggested donation is $15 but you can donate any amount. All proceeds go to Youth Outside. Get one of these via the link below! First come, first serve! Youth Outside is a nonprofit organization devoted to providing outdoor experiences and leadership opportunities to communities of color. Youth Outside runs numerous outdoor leadership an...d professional development programs meant to prepare BIPOC for careers in the outdoor industry as well as inspire wonder and appreciation for nature through environmental field trips for Bay Area youth. We are proud to call Youth Outside our partners and will continue to work with them to create a unified, inclusive, and equitable outdoor community for the Bay Area. https://app.rockgympro.com/b/widget/

We doubt anyone really takes a good bolt for granted; we are all happy to see good hardware outside. But, honestly, most of us probably won't ever experience what it takes to replace a bolt and as Jim Herson puts it, "the energy that goes into putting to put in a bolt...is just backbreaking" If you are interested in being a bolt replacement volunteer, we can likely help put you in touch with someone but since most of us won't be doing that, we can say thank you to the volunte...ers who are putting their back into it by making sure they have all the bolts they could ever need. Donate to help the @asca_bolt_replacement get bolts into the hands of volunteers! Donations are being matched up to $20,000 until the end of the year! Let's see how many bolts we can help replace! https://www.safeclimbing.org/

Planet Granite San Francisco 15.11.2020

"Oftentimes that experience [climbing outdoors] relies on a trust in safe, fixed protection". We wish that we could always rely on the hardware outside. That there were no bad bolts or old hardware on their last leg, but the reality is that there is no central organization ensuring that bolts are being replaced well and regularly. Most bolts are placed by non-profit groups and volunteers whenever they can and they need help - Bodies to help do the replacements and also the h...ardware- lots and lots of hardware. And the hardware is expensive. That is where @asca_bolt_replacement comes in - they get that hardware to the volunteers and non-profits who are replacing them (and do some of the replacements themselves). They also keep a pretty exhaustive list of where their bolts are going! The American Safe Climbing Association is looking for our help to get bolts to those doing the work. They have donors who are matching anything up to $20k until the end of December so let's help if we can. Head over to https://www.safeclimbing.org/ to learn more and donate! #americansafeclimbingassociation #badbolts #climbinghardwarereplacement #sportclimbing #tradclimbing #rockclimbing #climbingismypassion #coloradoclimbing #utahclimbing #californiaclimbing #safeclimbing #climbingstewardship #planitegranite #climbingvolunteer #givebacktoclimbing

Tuesday is election day but it is not the only opportunity you have to vote; it is just the last day to get your vote in. Remember, with physical distancing and other safety precautions, lines will likely be longer if you are voting in-person. Plan for a longer wait time or to vote early. And if you are voting by mail, don't forget to drop off your ballots!

Gym update! You may have seen it when you are making reservations this week but we have a few updates to the gym! No reservations are required Mon-Fri 6am - 2:45pm. You won't be tied to a reservation block or need reservations during this time. We will still be cleaning the gym a lot and we still have capacity limits so check the capacity meter on our website to see how busy the gym is. We close at 2:45pm for the weekday evening reservation blocks so plan accordingly. Weeke...nds still require reservations as normal. Guest passes, day passes, and new 7-punch pass holders are now welcome! Reservations are still required during peak times (weekday evenings and weekends). https://hubs.ly/H0yM_p80

Planet Granite San Francisco 29.10.2020

Well, 2020 has been...a year. And a lot of us are ready for it to be over. BUT, we have an alternative to just writing off the rest of December. There are still 24 days left until 2021 which means you could: - Put 3 more weeks into wrapping up your current goals - Get a 3-week head start on your 2021 goals - Keep your routine and get 3 weeks further than you would have otherwise - Change up your routine and get 3 weeks of new fun in! ... And, if any of these appeal to you, we have a new On Demand library of classes along with our daily live classes so even if you can't make one of the live ones, you still can still take a class. https://info.planetgranite.com/live-stream

Planet Granite San Francisco 15.10.2020

We are counting down the days until we can have you all back into the gym for in-person yoga and fitness classes. And while we wait for that time when we can all celebrate in the same room doing kettlebell swings or downward dog, we'd love to help you continue towards your goals together and maybe add a little routine into otherwise hectic lives. Our instructors are doing live instruction with all our best yoga and fitness classes online. Check out this weekend's classes from Jazmin, MK, and Lisa! https://hubs.ly/H0C3Ddt0

Climbing partners are like potato chips - you can't have just one! Well, you can but it is even better when you have a few. That way, you can climb as often as you like without having to worry about your partner having to work late or bailing. If you know someone who is either getting back into climbing or is just starting and would be a great climbing partner for you, there are plenty of ways they could try out the gym without a long term commitment. https://el-cap.com/you-belong-here/

We are happy to report that our Sunnyvale and Santa Clara gyms will fully reopen on October 14th! What you may notice for PGSF is some more spots opening up due to South Bay members canceling their reservations to climb closer to home. With all of our gyms reopening, our Bay Area gyms have listened to your feedback and decided to make a change to our reservation policy. A few updates/reminders:... Reservations can now be booked seven days in advance at all Bay Area gyms. We've minimized the booking timeline based on feedback to better fit your scheduling needs. You can continue to use the RGPro Connect app to manage your reservation. You can also still book on our website. This has been a challenging time for us, as it has for many of you as well, and we're so thankful for your past and continued support. We know how much climbing means to each of you and we will continue to learn and grow from what we do as a community. See more

For many, the holiday season is a time to pause and take a moment to reflect on what we’re thankful for. This year, we’re grateful for this incredible community--your continued support means the world to us. Your membership means that we’re able to keep our doors open during one of the most challenging times we’ve faced. We know that climbing with us looks a little different in 2020. We’re doing our best to navigate and adhere to local and county health guidelines so that ou...r gyms are open to as many of you as safely possible. So thank you. Thank you to those who are financially able for turning your membership back on. Thank you for your patience while we grapple with occupancy restrictions and other health guidelines. Thank you to those who’ve been able to adjust your schedule to climb with us during off-hoursyou're making room for those who don’t have the flexibility in their schedules! And thank you to everyone for wearing masks when you’re cruxing out on a move. It’s not always going to be like this and we can’t wait to celebrate when that happens. As a reminder - our gyms are closed Thursday, in observance of Thanksgiving Day.

Today is Indigenous People’s day. Two of our favorite local crags, Castle Rock and Mt. Tamalpais, sit on Ohlone and Coast Miwok land. Today, we give thanks to those that came before us that loved and cared for these places of splendor and beauty, and today we stand in solidarity with the Indigenous Communities that have survived in the face of extreme adversity and continue to call The Bay Area their home. The economic toll of COVID has been felt by many businesses and we are no different. Another way to help support not only us but all California climbing gyms would be to write to your local and state officials (https://ciccoalition.org/action/ sample template) and ask them to work with the California Indoor Climbing Coalition. These officials may include Governor Gavin Newsom and Acting Director of the California Department of Public Health Sandra Shewry, among others.
