Happy St Patrick's Day! Because of fearing someone rushing up to me to give me a kiss, I am not even going to wear this button this year... Seriously, though. I am going into compliance with PHYSICAL DISTANCING, a term I heard on TV this morning. I will be advising clients via email I am closing down the massage part of my enterprise until, at least, the end of March. We have lots of ways to remain in contact socially. This is a wise thing to do for someone (me @ 70) that is ...in the most vulnerable age group for suffering from this pandemic... We are under a shelter in place order, not a quarantine, yet, so, I will shelter in place a lot at my storefront, doing the long threatened organizing and cleaning up of my space to become a bigger and better retail enterprise when this thing blows over... My hours will be more flexible. I will advise daily, as I have been doing, when I will be in the storefront, available for retail.. It will be governed by cabin fever... It is truly hard to believe it is 30 years since the Loma Prieta Earthquake devastated the SF/Bay Area... These are not photos of the devastation of the event. ... They are photos of the good works of folk that were willing to go into a potentially dangerous arena and provide healing services to many in need as well as serving those already serving others. Do you work in silence or provide music? Using Spotify or Pandora, it is always up to my client as to what we are going to listen to. No rap or hip hop allowed... The choices have ranged from The Rolling Stones to Slack Key to, you name it. When there are vocals, many of my clients will sing along sometimes (obviously) oblivious to their surroundings. I should set up a recorder to prove it. This work is just too much fun, aye?

It saddens me when I ask for abdominal work and the practitioner advises me they do not do it. I have taken to asking, especially when talking with a spa set-up, if abdominal work is included in the session... Butts and bellies, too often overlooked, are very important parts to a full body session... Carry on and have a great day!

Do you teach your clients stress releasing techniques or, exercises? What have you found to be most effective for anxiety or recession (as opposed to depression)? What do you do to keep yourself calm, cool and collected?

How is your body doing as you do this work? My understanding is the attrition rate for those doing this work is still very high. May your career be long and satisfying. I have 32 down with 8 to go. Take care of your hands, arms, neck etc.

Have you ever nodded off when working in a too comfortable environment? Even worse, have you been caught? I have not been caught but have heard some pretty funny stories from those that have... Once, a cranial-sacral practitioner nodded off while working on me...

Reflecting on 32 years in the field and sometimes putting on my 'Health Educator' hat... In the poorly ventilated space at my first venue. A person came in radiating the scent of his chemotherapy. Because of the closed environment the scent became overwhelming...
