Long ago I learned that I need time with the Lord every morning if I’m to keep my head above water... the place where I come closer to Him, where I build inner strength. Our hope is not hung upon such a thin, fragile thread of I imagine... or most likely, but it is hung upon the strongest, unseverable promise of Him who is eternal truth. We are held by God’s own hand and with Christ’s own strength, to the strong stake of God’s unchangeable character. To us, hope does not mean, I hope so, our hope is, I KNOW so.

God’s strength and mercy are our hope for the hard days; His character and power are our confidence. The God who plans our paths is faithful to bless our trust. Although we might not always sense this blessing in the moment, our trust isn’t in the understanding of our circumstances, but in the faithfulness of our God. When the news is dismal, and it seems things are going from bad to worse, that’s the very time to stop and remember how God has met you at every turn. Looking back at His faithfulness in the past will strengthen us in the midst of our hardest todays and our most uncertain tomorrows. Trust Him. Trust Him. Trust Him.

There is hopefulness when we recognize our helplessness. It’s when we acknowledge that we can’t fix things or change things that we actually give God the opportunity to show up in ways we would have otherwise missed. He takes up where we have nothing more to give. Our limitations are our best qualifications. The more challenging our situation, the greater His opportunity to show His power. ... I pleaded with the Lord three times that it might leave me; but He has said to me,... ‘My grace is sufficient for you [My lovingkindness and My mercy are more than enough - always available regardless of the situation; for My power shows itself most effectively in your weakness.’ Therefore, I will all the more gladly boast in my weakness, so that the power of Christ [may completely enfold me and may dwell in me... for when I am weak [in human strength], then I am strong [truly able, truly powerful, truly drawing from God‘s strength.].
