Our 5th grade is currently involved in a science unit related to energy and matter in ecosystems. We decided to create our own self-sustaining ecosystem so that we could watch it in action. We had to make sure that the energy and matter in our ecosystem was balanced and that each of the living organisms would have the necessary ingredients for sustaining life.
