"My Pitzer journey began in September of 2013. While scrolling my Facebook newsfeed, I clicked a Los Angeles Times article which was written by former Pitzer College VP of Admission, Dr. Angel Perez. I got inspired after reading that article and I wrote an email stating that I wanted to study at Pitzer College and change the world, but I did not have any money. I remember writing that email without even expecting a reply, but Dr. Perez himself responded to my email. After exc...hanging a few emails, he encouraged me to apply to Pitzer College. I ended up becoming one of the first international students to attend Pitzer College with a full scholarship. I strongly believe that a Pitzer education should be accessible to every motivated student who thinks that they can push humanity forward and as an engaged alumnus, I am able to support that vision!" Queer Nicaraguan-American writer, director, producer and actor Edwin Alexis Gómez received a Grand Jury Award for his directorial debut, QUÉDATE CALLADO (STAY SILENT), at the 2018 Outfest Fusion Film Festival. His sophomore short film, LA SAD BOY, premiered at the 2019 Outfest Film Festival and is currently touring the festival circuit. In the 8th Stay at Home Alumni Artist Talk, Gómez is joined by media artist and Pitzer Professor Gina Lamb for a conversation about his work and using film as a vehicle for social change.
