The regional forester has extended the closure order for all public access and fire restrictions through Sept. 21. You can view the extended fire restrictions and forest closure orders at www.fs.usda.gov/R5. Conditions are still very smoky across the forest.
The forest closure has been extended to 9/21/20 by Regional Order. The closure does leave room for re-evaluation on a day to day basis. We will continue to provide updates as they become available. https://www.fs.usda.gov/Int/FSE_DOCUMENTS/fseprd804574.pdf
The forest, including all access to Pinecrest Lake remain closed, due to extreme fire danger. Please know that there is no immediate threat to Pinecrest at this time, all facilities and staff remain safe. The current order extends until 9/14/2020. Let’s hope for decreased fire conditions and improvement on containment lines on existing fires. Our hearts and thoughts go out to everyone currently impacted by wildfire, please be safe and take evacuation warnings seriously. We will continue to keep this page updated and circumstances change.
WEDNESDAY 9/9 10:00AM - CREEK FIRE UPDATE The Creek Fire has grown to over 163,000 acres and is burning approximately 25 miles southwest of Mammoth Lakes. There... have been NO EVACUATION WARNINGS ISSUED FOR MAMMOTH LAKES OR MONO COUNTY. With that said, it is certainly a good idea to have a personal evacuation plan in place. Please visit https://www.readyforwildfire.org/prepare-for-wildf/get-set/ to develop a plan. You can also subscribe to Mono County's Code Red Alert System to receive alerts regarding evacuation orders, wildfires and other emergencies. Registration can be completed here: https://public.coderedweb.com/CNE/en-US/09531DC35832. Lastly, we've been getting a lot of callers who are concerned about friends and family who are out in the back country. If you believe someone you know may be unaccounted for, please call the Madera County Sheriff Office at (559) 658-2555. See more
