So pour yourself a big glass of wine, get out the popcorn, cozy up in front of your screen, and allow yourself to be entertained by the likes of Uncorked, "Wine Country", "Bottle Shock, Mondovino, Sideways or perhaps the 1989 western drama "Blood Red, which was filmed on location right here at Picchetti.
PICNIC SEASON IS UPON US The solstice isn’t until June-20, but we all know that the summertime season of sunscreen, sandals, shorts and socializing outdoors unofficially runs from Memorial Day until Labor Day. And while you may not be able to picnic at the winery at this time, you can always pick up bottles of your favorite Picchetti wines and enjoy them safely with your family at home. We’re OPEN EVERY DAY from 10 to 5 for wine club pickups and retail sales (all for offsite consumption only).
NATURE’S DOORWAY April showers bring May flowers!
MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND AT PICCHETTI If you’re planning to visit Picchetti on this glorious holiday weekend, bring along a face covering and be prepared to observe safe social-distancing practices. Our picnic grounds and restrooms are closed until further notice, but our hiking trails are open daily from sunrise until sunset and the winery is OPEN EVERY DAY between 10:00am and 5:00pm for wine club pickups and retail sales (all for offsite consumption only).
2017 GRENACHE - NEW RELEASE Sourced from a small vineyard located in the cool climate and rocky soils of Monterey County, this limited-edition release (just 15 barrels) is a classic expression of the harsh and rugged Arroyo Seco terroir. It boasts a stunning bouquet of assorted red and black fruits, cedar, and new saddle leather; a supple texture; and a palate awash in wild raspberries, peppercorn, and rustic spice notes that add a brightness and vivacity to its lingering finish. A Gold medal recipient at the SF Chronicle Wine Competition, this beautifully balanced wine is the perfect pairing buddy to spiced and herbed dishes including roasted meats, grilled vegetables and many ethnic foods. Old World meets New!
HOME ALONE? One way to bring tranquility to your life these days is to spend a few minutes with a glass of wine. It will help you relax, it will aid digestion, and scientists have discovered that resveratrol (a key ingredient of red wine) can reduce the effects of viruses. Granted, the concentrations of resveratrol used in their studies are likely higher than in your glass, but a glass or two a day of red wine will do you no harm And it’s guaranteed to bring a smile to your untouched face!
DOUBLE GOLD - SF INTERNATIONAL WINE COMPETITION This newly-released 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon is sourced exclusively from 612 vines cultivated on a small 1-acre parcel located right on the grounds of Stanford University's School of Medicine (at the corner of Arastradero & Deer Creek) in Palo Alto. It garnered 96 points and was a Double Gold medal winner at the recent SF International Wine Competition. Full-bodied, opulent and irresistible already, this impeccably balanced small-production vintage is capable of aging through 2030. Pair it with a grilled ribeye steak, roast lamb, pepper-crusted tuna, Camembert cheese or bitter-edged vegetables such as broccoli rabe, grilled radicchio and roasted brussel sprouts. A classic example of intensity tempered by elegance and finesse!
