Meet Bailey! This two-year-old pittie mix is available for adoption through the Sacramento SPCA. "Bailey is a 2-year-old and 74.5-pound dog who is looking for her forever home. Bailey can be quite shy and uncertain of new people, but with the right encouragement and a tasty treat, she will gift you with the softest of tail wags. Once she warms up, her favorite thing is belly rubs. Bailey loves to play and will often run around the yard playing fetch or tug-of-war. Her previo...us family said that she is house trained and crate trained. Bailey can be selective with other dogs and would likely do best with an easygoing but playful dog friend. Bailey finds cats a little TOO interesting, so she would do best in a home with no cats. Due to her size and reserved personality, Bailey is a better fit for homes with teens and adults." Bailey's adoption fee is fully sponsored by Stephanie Brennan of Guild Mortgage. To schedule an appointment or ask additional questions about Bailey, please email Sacramento SPCA adoption staff at [email protected], or learn more To learn more: https://www.sspca.org/dogs #petfoodexpress #furryfriday #pferescuepartners

Has your dog gone from calm and collected to crazy energy in a matter of seconds? Tearing around your living room or yard at full speed with his butt tucked, eyes wide, tongue flapping about - he probably has a case of the zoomies. Zoomies, technically known as FRAPs (Frenetic Random Activity Periods), refer to those unmistakable explosions of energy that your dog can't contain. Though there are many reasons why your dog would break out into a full-on sprint, zoomies help hi...m release any stored energy, excitement or to relieve stress. Zoomies are a natural dog behavior that is most often no cause for alarm, as long as your pup has plenty of room to run without injuring themselves. Does your dog get the zoomies? Share your dog's best zoomie moments with us in the comments! #pfefunfacts #triviatuesday #petfoodexpress #dogfunfacts #eastbaydogs #bayareadogs #dogsofsac #dogsoflosangeles

Wake up. Adopt a dog. Have a good day. Meet Luna. She came to Front Street Animal Shelter - City of Sacramento back in August. After some time in foster care she is available and looking for a home! She’s a goofy and energetic girl who loves attention and would enjoy an active lifestyle. She gets along with other large dogs, but no small animals in the home. ... She would do well in a family home with children. If you are interested in meeting Luna please reach out to @frontstreetanimals at [email protected] #pferescuepartners #rescuesrock #adoptable #sacramento #frontstreet #furryfriday #bayarea

Have you ever bought your pet new food, filled with the best ingredients, only to find that their potty breaks are less than enjoyable? For many pets, even a simple change in food can result in soft poops or diarrhea. Here are the ins and outs of successfully switching your pet from one food to another while avoiding a digestive upset. Easing your pet into a new food over 7-10 days is recommended. Start with a 75% old diet + 25% new diet mix for the first three days, then h...alf and half for three days, then 25% old diet + 75% new diet. It's a little more work than just putting out the new food, but it could make a big difference to your pet's stomach happiness. Healthy insides, happy outsides. #petfoodexpress #happyhealthypets

Did you know? A team of psychologists at the Universities of Portsmouth and Sussex have purr-fected the art of building a bond with your cat. Their new study has shown that humans who use slow-blinking, eye-narrowing facial expressions that mimic a "cat smile" appear friendlier and more attractive to their feline companions. How to tell your cat I love you with the slow-blink:... Approach your cat with relaxed eye contact, followed by closing your eyes for a couple of seconds. If your cat responds the same way, that is a sign they love you back! Cats often greet humans and other animals with slow blinks to communicate affection and trust. Remember, every cat is different so it might take a little time and patience for your kitty to speak back to you. Have you tried the slow-blink with your cat? #pfefunfacts #triviatuesday #funcatfacts #love #catsmile #petfoodexpress

We'll admit it. We entered uncharted territory when we launched a virtual version of our annual Pet Fair. Coordinating animals from fifty-eight shelters and rescues, and finding a way to still give back to our shelter and rescue partners took a little imagination, but we are thrilled with the results. The month-long virtual Pet Fair resulted in 2,989 adoptions, including dogs, cats, birds, and more! Pet Food Express donated $25 to the shelters for every eligible adoption, tot...aling $74,725. There's no question we hope to see you in person next year, but for the 2,989 newly adopted pets, and their new pet parents, there’s nothing virtual about the difference this event has made. Thank you for being part of it! Swipe through for heartwarming photos of happy pets and their new families. #virtualpetfair #bayareapetfair #tailsofadoption #petfoodexpress #happygotchaday #cats #dogs #rabbit #newpet

Black cats are iconic, especially when Halloween rolls around. While black cats are typically associated with Halloween, witchcraft, and bad luck, there’s so much more to these inky felines than the spooky stuff. In ancient Egypt, black cats were considered an embodiment of the ancient Cat Goddess, Bastet, and worshiped. During the Middle Ages, black cats became associated with the devil and witchcraft. Elderly and solitary women who often fed and cared for stray cats w...ere often (mis)identified as witches and the cats as their familiars. Many people in the United States believe black cats bring bad luck or are altogether evil. But it's not a belief shared across all cultures. In Britain, Japan, and Ireland, owning a black cat is believed to improve your love life, bring good luck and happiness. If your black cat has a tabby stripe gene and loves to spend hours sunbathing, their fur can turn a rusty brown color. Why? The sun's rays break down the pigment in their fur to reveal underlying tabby stripes. Best of all, black cats go with every décor! #pfefunfacts #triviatuesday #blackcatday #petfoodexpress #funfacts #funcatfacts #blackcatfacts #blackcatsrule #blackcatlove #bayareacats #catsoflosangeles
