Winterfest is coming! Celebrated every year on the first Friday of December, Winterfest at the Petterson Museum is the kick-off celebration of the season at Pilgrim Place. We rejoice with an exhibit that represents the season and hot tea and cider and holiday cookies. The tradition just wouldn't be the same without Michael Ryan and Friends playing our favorite holiday tunes. This year, we ask you to bring your own cider and cookies and we will bring the holiday cheer and Michael Ryan and Friends. Nature; the fourth and final video tour of The ART of TIME: Japan and its Seasons exhibit is up! This video shares how the seasons are represented through nature. Have you seen our new website? In the fall of 2019, when the museum had its renovation, the Friends of the Petterson Museum and Pilgrim Place made the investment into also updating its website. It includes fresh and sharp colorful graphics, photos and videos. https://www.pettersonmuseum.org/. Stay up-to-date and come back often.

Even though the opening of the ART of TIME, Japan and its Seasons was brief, it is still up and will continue once the Petterson Museum reopens.

The Petterson will be closed through August as we work on renovations for the galleries and collections spaces. Stay tuned for updates on the renovations!

Its the final weekend of the Between the Pages exhibit at the Petterson! Discover the transformation of writing from cuneiform tablets to modern printing, and explore what defines a book. Museum hours are Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 2-4 pm. Admission is free!

Don’t miss our special one-weekend only exhibit Expressions of Faith: The Religious Works of Sadao Watanabe! Unique works by Sadao Watanabe on loan from personal collections and pieces from the Petterson’s permanent collection will be on view February 23-25, 2-4 pm.

New exhibit! Come see Finding Our Way: Travel and Navigation Through the Ages to learn about how people in different times and cultures approached travel. Pictured here is a document on one leg of a trade route. On this trip, the Huron was transporting rum, lemons, sugar, and coffee from Grenada to Middletown, CT.
