Why has my veterinarian been SO busy? Wondering why your veterinarian has been so busy this year? Pets may not need to mask up, but COVID-19 and its effects on human society has caused an unprecedented increase in activity at many veterinary practices.

Kevin, RVT (registered vet technician) holds an Emerald tree boa, Corallus caninus. This beautiful boa is named for its massive teeth, used to feed on arboreal small mammals (squirrels, rodents, monkeys, bats), birds, and lizards. The large chemoreceptive pits on the lips are used to detect heat given off by prey and help guide the strike. @ Pet Hospital of Penasquitos-Veterinary Specialist

We now carry Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease Virus serotype 2 (RHDV2) vaccination to protect your rabbits. RHDV2 is an often fatal and highly infectious viral disease of domestic and wild rabbits. Some reports noted up to a 90% death rate in rabbit colonies. Unfortunately, we have had a confirmed case of the virus. For more information please read https://bit.ly/2WWEwse

In honor of the Thanksgiving holiday, we'd like to take a moment to give our thanks to you for trusting us with your pet's care and for your business. We are so very appreciative for and honored by the trust you place in us. Our office will be closed on Thursday, November 28, 2019. We will reopen on Friday, November 29, 2019 for our normal business hours. Please feel free to contact us for your pet's medical needs, medication refills, diets, etc. prior to the holiday. We know... most of our clients include their beloved pets in their holiday festivities, so we wanted to offer a few helpful tips to help keep your pet’s Thanksgiving safe and fun. Many of those delicious Thanksgiving foods we look forward to all year can cause diarrhea, gastrointestinal upset, or even pancreatitis in pets, so be thoughtful when sharing your Thanksgiving feast with your pets. Keep in mind that raw eggs and raw or undercooked turkey may contain salmonella bacteria, onions and garlic (including powders) can be toxic, and turkey bones can actually splinter and perforate the intestines. A small amount of cooked turkey meat is your best bet for a safe and tasty treat. Skip the skin, which can contain marinade, spices, oils, and fats which can cause stomach upset. Be sure to keep your kitchen trash secure and take it out at the end of the day. Bones, onions, chocolate, and other Thanksgiving goodies are hard for a curious pet to resist! Keep in mind that the busy hub-bub of the typical Thanksgiving can at times be a bit overwhelming for pets, so be sure yours has a comfy and quiet corner (or even better, room) to retire to when a break is needed. Wishing you and your loved ones (human and not!) a happy and bountiful Thanksgiving holiday! https://bit.ly/2sgmiFE See more

Dear Clients and Friends, We are proud to announce that we have been awarded the American Animal Hospital Association's top honor, AAHA accreditation. That means your precious pet family members are being cared for by one of the top 12-15% of animal hospitals in the United States and Canada. AAHA has been recognizing veterinary hospitals for their commitment to maintaining high standards of care for over 80 years. To be eligible for AAHA accreditation, hospitals must be evalu...ated on approximately 900 standards that assess safety protocols, equipment, veterinary knowledge, and other key areas of pet health care. Accredited hospitals are home to leading pet health care providers. Our veterinarians and staff are dedicated to delivering excellent care for your pet. Because pets are our passion.
