Mountain View’s Human Relations Commission (HRC) is holding listening forums with facilitated small group discussions about local policing. One of these forums (Thursday Sept. 10, 5-7) will be dedicated to youth (age 15-24). We want to hear your story about your experience with the Mountain View Police Department. Based on your input, the HRC will prepare a report to the City Council and Police Department to help inform future police policies and programs. Seeking Volunteers for Racial Equity Efforts! Do you believe in community partnership? Do you believe the community has the power to make change? Would you like to be part of the national movement in engaging the community on racial healing dialogues at the local level? If YES, Volunteer at PCRC!... We are looking for a minimum of 30 volunteers to facilitate respectful, small group (5-8 people) virtual conversations with community members and local government about racial equity and community policing. The conversations will take place virtually with the cities/regions of Belle Haven, East Palo Alto, Daly City, Colma, Brisbane, South San Francisco, Millbrae, Mountain View, Foster City, San Mateo, and Redwood City from September to October. No facilitation experience is necessary, but it is an asset if you have it! Bilingual in Fijian, Mandarin, Samoan, Spanish Tagalog, or Tongan, is a plus! PCRC will provide: 8 hours of training, including practice, observation and role plays - organizational support and coaching - all necessary materials and agendas You will gain/improve skills in: Facilitating virtually Public speaking via zoom to small groups Taking notes and collecting feedback Remaining neutral in occasionally contentious discussion Being flexible & ready to lead with humility Please fill out our Volunteer Inquiry Form on our website https://www.pcrcweb.org/get-involved/.
