Look what I found! Funny story! I was at TJ Maxx while Victoria was in USMC Boot Camp And I’m on a FB page for parents that have young adults in Bootcamp and there was recruits Being dropped daily from all of the Platoons and I seen a cup that said Military Mom and I wanted to get it so bad but felt if I bought it I would jinx her and she would be dropped! So I put it back and went back to T.J. Maxx after graduation and it was gone it wasn’t a #RaeDunn Cup but... it was a cute cup and no joke I cried over that cup while standing in T.J.MaxxI Must’ve looked like a crazy woman I’ve been searching for a military cup like this since then and I finally found one! it’s little things like this that will bring me to happy tears over her! My Daughter My Marine. You'll never know what you did to me on that fateful January day; You came home and rocked my world with the words you chose to say; You calmly and nonchalantly said, "Hey mom, I joined the Marines;" ... I walked away and hit my knees while the tears began to stream. What happened next is much a blur as months turned into days; You wanted the time to quickly pass so you could head your way; Next thing I know we are standing at MEPS while you begin to leave; I kissed your cheek and wished you well while I began to grieve. The journey started with a quick phone call where you yelled, "I am here"; All I could do was sit and listen and quietly lovingly care; I had no idea what would happen next would forever change my life; All I remember is looking for the button to stop this crazy ride. Gone were the days of holding your hand and guiding you safely around; Instead were days of wondering if my daughter would ever be found; I laid on your bed and smelled your clothes and cried my silent tears; For I just realized where you were and suddenly voiced my fears. I vividly remember you telling me again, "Hey mom I'm just at camp"; You told me how you would get to shoot, and hike and read a map; You tried to make me feel at ease by making jokes and fun; But deep inside I knew it was much more than a summer run. Thirteen weeks is a mighty long time to have no hugs or smiles; PARRIS ISLAND SC. is a long way away and unfortunately many a mile; But through it all you kept your eyes clearly on the task at hand; And all I can do is thank God above for bringing you home a woman. My daughter left home to chase her dreams and a chance to earn the title; She did just that and much much more as she also holds a rifle; You see, this woman that you behold is much more than my daughter; She proudly wears the uniform and causes enemies to run. I never dreamed I would be the MoM of a United States Marine; I had no clue what dreams she held and how they would come to be; But this I know and share with you, it's not an easy load; For she just joined but I was drafted along this narrow road. There is no greater pride than having a daughter who is a Marine; You see, she sacrifices oh so much, just so we can be free; I gave them my daughter and she came back a woman and forever she will be; One to be reckoned with, one who is entitled, a United States Marine.
