Pedal Revolution 13.12.2020

Hey All, Update- my Stolen Hunter was spotted this morning in a houseless camp behind the Bevmo on Barneveld street behind Bayshore Ave. A youngish Latino man had it and rode off towards either the Mission or down Cezar Chavez towards Dogpatch/Hunter's point. He had strapped a large black squarish bag/case to the front and rack on the back. He was shorter guy and had the seat slammed down to be able to ride it. Bike looks obviously too big for him. Please keep an eye out. Police report #200674348 Thanks!

Hi Everyone. My Garage was broken into Saturday night and a bunch of stuff got stolen: two bass guitars, three bikes, a bunch of bike tools and a Makita drill set. My beloved Hunter Cross bike was one of the bikes taken. I'd love to be reunited with it. On the off chance anyone spots it please lock it up, call the fuzz- Report #200674348 or buy it back? I will pay cash and a lifetime of gratitude to see this bike again. Cell (Nine Seven Zero) 70eight-zero21seven. Thanks! Steve

Please take a moment to read the blog post linked in our bio from Antonio Chavez. Antonio has deep roots with Pedal Revolution having been an intern in our employment program years ago. These days Antonio is a busy guy working full time as a courier, a Dad, and the brain behind @lostsoulcouriercollective that works towards harm reduction and organizing the bike community to be inclusive and all welcoming with emphasis on BIPOC visibility and representation. Check the link to @jambi_jambi blogpost of Antonio’s inspiring comments to participants of a recent group ride he organized. Give @lostsoulcouriercollective a follow and support their fundraiser and find out about upcoming rides! #hometownheroes #pedalrevolutioninterns #bikepacking #gravelbiking #bipoc #bipocoutdoors @ San Francisco, California

Pedal Revolution Community, It is with great sadness that we are announcing the closure of Pedal Revolution, effective June 1. This has been an extremely difficult decision to make, but one that is necessary to preserve the mission of New Door Ventures, the youth development nonprofit organization that operates Pedal Revolution. New Door provides paid, meaningful work, professional skills training, and case management to hundreds of Bay Area youth every year who are experienc...ing barriers to employment. The internship program that has operated within the bike shop for nearly two decades has provided jobs and education to upwards of 500 young people- all while juggling the day-to-day challenges and demands of running a small business. With the challenges of COVID-19 and the highly uncertain fundraising and retail environments, the cost of operating and supporting Pedal Revolution is no longer tenable. We know that the impact of this decision will be felt by you, our devoted customers and donors, as well as our extraordinary and dedicated staff. For over 25 years Pedal Revolution has been a hub of the San Francisco bicycle community and a fundamental example of how a business can enact social change. The Shop has been a sanctuary and support to our youth participants and a resource for our customers and community. Reflecting on the multitude of experiences, stories, and personalities that have shaped Pedal Revolution over its history is both remarkable and humbling. We've sold tens of thousands of bicycles and serviced upwards of 130,000 bikes. We've striven to create unique bikes that reflect a balance of utility and style. Pedal Revolution has always embraced the idea that while not all bicycles are created equal, the joy of riding is fundamental. We take pride in that. Please see use the FAQ page: http://pedalrevolution.org/closing-faq/ as a resource for further information, and feel free to email us with any questions that are not addressed. Your stories and well wishes are welcome, too. It has truly been an honor and privilege to have been a part of this remarkable bike shop and the staff who made it possible all these years. Thank you to all our staff, our interns, and to you: our customers, and the community that has grown around us and continued to support what we do. With gratitude, The Pedal Revolution Staff Steve, Joel, Neftali, Ben, Jasper, Juanita, Baxter

The process of reconfiguring/rebuilding our used bikes can be equal parts frustrating and rewarding. Old standards, odd sizings, worn out elements are the norm. It can be hard to locate the beating heart inside an old bike at times, but the rhythm of the mechanical work keeps the process moving ahead steadily. A vision eventually becomes clearer and enthusiasm builds. You win some, you lose some. I wouldn’t have it any other way. Fiore Roma rebuilt into a quick and light speedy commuter with some fun colors. 56cm and a good match for a 5’9 - 5’11 human. #dailymeditation? #pedalrevolutionbikes #uniquebikesforuniquepeople #whatwedoissecret #stayhomeithelps @ Pedal Revolution

Gonna make good use of the time and keep racking these up for when our doors open again. This sweet pea of a Bianchi Volpe got dolled up today with a full makeover. It’s a 49cm but to make it simple we just call it a Small. The Volpe is a really nice do-all bike equally happy commuting across town or loaded up and touring the backroads. This one got the Pedal Rev rebuild treatment and is waiting for a new best friend in the 5’ - 5’5-ish range. #pedalrevolutionbikes #bianchibicycles #uniquebikesforuniquepeople #bianchivolpe #touringbike #allroadbike #commuterbike #covidblues #againstalloddswerethebigdoorprize #ripjohnprine @ Pedal Revolution

The doors are closed for now but a few wrenches are still turning at Pedal Rev. We are using this public closure time to build new and reconditioned bikes so that when the light at the end of this tunnel brightens we will be stocked with a fresh fleet of unique bicycles. Custom built - @handsomecycles She-Devil step-thru, 1x drivetrain, basket pending. Ideal for a rider in the 5’6 range who is patient. #mixtebike #commuterbike #notopen #stayhome #pedalrevolutionbikes #uniquebikesforuniquepeople @ Pedal Revolution

Jay really likes bikes. His enthusiasm is infectious and reminds us every time he visits Pedal Rev just how life changing a bicycle can be. This is Jay’s latest creation- an older steel framed Italian road bike which he had redone up with some clever mods to retro-fit it into a more daily functional bike. Wheel size was swapped from 700 to 650b to gain more tire clearance, low range gearing, shorter crank arms to compensate for the bottom bracket height drop, a comfy handleba...r set up, dynamo hub driven lighting, and crucial #basketlife vibes. Jay considers this his light and fast bike which might garner some chuckles in certain corners of the bike world. We agree with Jay that this whip is suitably light and fast for a totally practical bike and that the chucklers that inhabit those dark corners of bicycle debates should also be wearing dunce caps. It’s a tough time to find moments of enthusiasm but catching a glimpse of this bike and the owner’s excitement did the trick. Thanks Jay! #pedalrevolution #pedalrevolutionbikes #newbikeday #newbikedayisthebestday #uniquebikesforuniquepeople #650b #allroadbike @ Pedal Revolution See more
