It is an honor to have worked with my colleagues at DermaBlend and L'Oréal over the past two years on a major research project that has culminated in a scientific paper that was just published in the Journal of Drugs in Dermatology. Entitled "Impact of Iron-Oxide Containing Formulations Against Visible Light-Induced Skin Pigmentation in Skin of Color Individuals," this article reviews our findings that products containing Iron Oxide protect the skin from visible light-induce...d pigmentation better than a mineral SPF50+ sunscreen containing Titanium Dioxide and Zinc Oxide. These findings highlight that Iron Oxide pigments-based foundation formulations can play a dual role by camouflaging existing pigmentation, as well as reducing the development of pigmentation triggered by sun exposure. Sharing my message, my truth... My heart is so heavy with despair and grief. Looking back at our long painful history: centuries of injustice. Now facing today’s traumatic realities, all around us. Suffering's tears can blind us from being able to see forward but we must not lose sight of our quest. We must continue to move forward in pursuit of truth, justice, equality, fairness, mobility and above all, RESPECT for our dignity and humanity. In these deeply disturbing times, ...we cry out for leadership & direction. Together, we must rise and find a shared path forwardseeking the light of truth, justice, fairness and integrity. Dr Martin Luther King, Jr, said it best many years ago: With patient and firm determination we will press on until every valley of despair is exalted to new peaks of hope, until every mountain of pride and irrationality is made low by the leveling process of humility and compassion; until the rough places of injustice are transformed into a smooth plane of equality of opportunity; and until the crooked places of prejudice are transformed by the straightening process of bright-eyed wisdom.
