A motivating factor in this is that I don't want the car to only be referred to as clean just because it is well executed, but I also want it be such because of the clarity of the paint, cleanliness of the interior, and the engine bay. http://hondasociety.com/board/showpost.php

There are a lot of people who don't like the tan interior of the CD chassis, but I happen to like it. Maybe it is because its actually clean and not filthy since it is very easy to see dirt in them because of their light color. It helps that I ripped it all out a couple of years ago and detailed the interior. Sinced I had to remove the door panels to access the door handles, I decided to address sections of them that we're dirty. One area was the inside of the door pocket, wh...ich had a dried blue residue, and the second being the driver's side door panel handle. The rule of thumb with detailing is to always start with the least aggressive method and if it isn't effective, then gradually move your way up. In this case I decided to start with diluted Simple Great and in interior brush. At the very least, it would loosen any debris and make for a clean surface area for a more aggressive method. I followed this up with interior cleaner of choice, Meguiars #39 Professional Heavy Duty Vinyl Cleaner and an interior scrub brush. It was quite the stubborn stain but after several applications was able to remove the dried blue residue. It would be helpful to mention that I only used Simple Green and an interior brush on the plastic side pocket after I removed the dirt stuck in its small compartments. Success so far and onto the filthy door handle. I was honestly anticipating a fight consider how bad I thought it to be, and was ready to use my steamer on it, but I was pleasantly surprised. Rather, all it took to lift the dirt was spraying #39 and ever so little agitation for it come off. It was very surprising so to town I went cleaning it. The end result was a significantly cleaner door handle that I was no longer embarrassed of. Even though I know these are areas that would go ignored or unnoticed, they were important to me. They offered me peace of mind. I don't modify my car to have the best out there. I'm competitive in other aspects of life, but not car building. Simple just doesn't go out of style and what I do to my vehicles is with the forsight that it will still look good 10 years from now. Ultimately, I'd be much more proud for people to say it's a car free of dirt in the interior with with wet paint, and well, a clean car. Let me know if you have any questions. I'd be more than glad to answer them.
