Dr. Noah Nash sits down to chat with Peace4Kids founder Zaid Gayle about the launch of ROCMove and the research behind his dissertation. Even with good intentions, it is impossible to predict the outcome of Big Technology applied to the foster care problem. Issues of race, class, and power further add to this complexity. My dissertation positions people with lived experience in foster care as experts and explicitly engages Black youth and adults to discuss our experiences, insights and expectations of technology within and beyond the system. - Dr. Nash

Episode #3 of the Peace4Kids Podcast is now LIVE! Our beliefs shape how we see the world. In honor of National Foster Care month, the perceptions episode explores the public’s biases toward youth in foster care and the impact it has on our community. As one of the founders of the Revolution of Care Movement (ROCMove), Dr. Noah Nash, shares how his upbringing in South LA influences his strategy to change foster care from the bottom up. His research centers on the intersection ...of technology and foster care and unpacking the negative effects of media perceptions on marginalized communities. ROCMove is a new initiative of Peace4Kids that honors the raw, unfiltered, authentic voices from foster care. It is composed of intergenerational leaders with lived foster care experience, deep expertise, and direct stake in creating a healthier culture. To advance this effort, they have launched the Changing the Narrative research project while also creating new media narratives and training to mitigate the public’s negative perceptions about foster care.

The Sanctuary: A place of refuge or safety. As we move through these unprecedented times, we must continue to create spaces where those enduring the experience can speak their truth. The resistance to change often stems from the fear of loss that could occur with change.... Our goal is not to take anything away from anyone, the goal is total transformation. Hear the voices of the Peace4Kids community as they engage in a conversation about race, and the intersection of foster care. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VC4GS8wxNSk&feature=youtu.be (intended for a mature audience)

Join us tomorrow at 10am via zoom, for THE SANCTUARY - A virtual town hall amplifying the voices of our youth and those with a lived experience in foster care. Saturday, June 6th @ 10am Register: https://tinyurl.com/p4ksanctuary... Tomorrow we share our hope for a way forward. It's not lost on us that our community of youth is most at risk of experiencing the state-sanctioned violence against Black citizens in America. Therefore, it is important to listen to their voices. Thank you for taking this journey with us and being an agent of healing and transformation. Moderated by: Zaid Gayle
