As we have previously posted, our business neighbor, Diego from Chili Peppers, was badly injured in a scooter crash two months ago. Diego and his family have a long road ahead and lots of medical bills after suffering a traumatic brain injury. Please come support him and his family this weekend during Diego Days! Update on Diego Ruiz's progress from the family: As of Friday, August 14th Diego continues to be highly agitated and confused. This is common for a traumatic brain injury. The medical staff expects this agitation to continue for some time. They are looking at different medications to calm him. In the meantime, Diego's house is being prepared for his arrival. Specifically, his restroom is being retrofitted with safety rails and any necessary safety precautions. This will cost ...around $12K. We appreciate each and every one of our neighbors who have contributed and have spoken to us about Diego. You guys are lifting us in a dark time and we TRULY appreciate it.

UPDATE 8/7/20: Diego’s wife was just cleared to be by his bed side permanently!! We believe this will help his morale to keep on progressing. Diego is currently receiving physical therapy and has been able to walk with assistance. He is wide awake but still confused. He continues to make great progress and we are awaiting for the medical staff to eventually clear him to be discharged from the hospital. I will keep everyone posted. And thanks for everyone’s support. **********...*************************** Diego Ruiz, one of the owners of Chile Peppers, just a few doors down from us suffered a tragic accident while riding his scooter on July 3rd here in Scripps Ranch. The family is now facing lots of unexpected medical expenses. Anything to help with the offset of these costs would mean a lot to the family. Due to COVID-19, the family cant visit Diego in the hospital, and after being in a medically induced coma for over two weeks, family is what he needs now. As of today, Tuesday, August 4, Diego remains in the hospital, but is now able to walk with assistance. He can communicate and is beginning to eat on his own. The family is hoping to bring him home so that they can provide him with all our love and support that is essential for his recovery. This post will be updated as updates are provided by the family.

San Diego County has been approved by the State to reopen dine-in restaurants, with some modifications. While our cafe will remain open, we will be strongly suggesting and favoring the use of our outdoor seating on the patio for the time being. We ask that you come with your family/group or wait to find a table until all guests have arrived... We will soon be switching over to the use of menus, that can either be recycled or taken home after your use at the restaurant. We also ask that you only come to enjoy Pazzo's in person, if you have not had any symptoms of COVID-19 in the last 14 days. We look forward to seeing our loyal customers again and having the opportunity to serve you, as we have since 1993!
